"I usually don’t leave reviews but we had the best weekend here! It’s close to everything and the Kellerhaus was right across the street. Our cabin was spotless and it’s now owned by a super friendly family who were very attentive and responsive. We will definitely be back!"
"Owner was very friendly and nice. Anything you needed her and the girls were right there for you. We already booked the next year"
"The new owners and their family are fantastic. Kind, polite, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They're doing a great job renovating this "dive," and keep it cleaner than the former owner/caretakers. And this is the cleanest pool at any hotel I've ever stayed at!"
"Nice clean and quiet. We rented 2 cabins for 5 day's. The 1848 is convenient to everything. The owners were very helpful finding good local food spots. We had a great time."
"I absolutely LOVED staying here! My family and I rented out 4 cabins last summer - 8 adults and 2 kids in different age groups, all with very different interests/vacation styles. The 1848 checked off almost EVERY one of our individual requirements and preferences! My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the adorable little one-bedroom cottages and it was just perfect for what we needed - A clean, cozy place to stay & enjoy the granite state for a few nights. I love that it was a free-standing cottage, so it still felt like we had a place of our own for our time there. The cottage included a shower and half-bathroom, which were separate from each other off the main room. They were both very small, but that didn’t bother us one bit! Other than that, the room had cable TV, a mini-fridge, a coat closet, and a small dresser. Each cottage also had its own BBQ outside. My favorite was the little porch! First, it was a great spot for us to hang up our wet towels and keep a cooler or 2. But most importantly, I’m a smoker, and it was nice to not have to hike somewhere every day for my morning butt. I am also NOT a morning person, lol, so I loved being out in the summer shade with my own little spot that allowed for plenty of time (and personal space!) to wake up. That was one of the many ways in which the owner was SO AWESOME! Not only did he give us an excellent rate, but he was the perfect level of laid back while also being highly accommodating. He was often out in the morning, tending to the grounds and keeping the property in beautiful shape. He’d give us a “Good morning!” or double check to see if we needed anything, but mostly just did his thing and gave us our space to wake up. That’s not to say he was stand off-ish, by any means! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and genuinely made us feel like guests - never like impositions. My mom rented one of the larger, family-sized cabins which again, was perfect! Parking was super convenient, directly next to the unit, so it wasn’t a huge hassle getting things packed or unpacked. Full sized kitchen, bathroom, living room/dining area, and I cant seem to remember if there were one or two bedrooms, but it slept 2 adults and my 12yo brother very comfortably. It also had a large raised deck with a BBQ grill and picnic table right next to the shared fire pit. The property is along a main road, but the cabins are set in the back so it still felt super rural which is what we wanted. If that’s not your thing, they also rented standard motel rooms just along the road, which I’m assuming is great for bikers who just wanna wake up and ride! Plus, the location itself is within a mile or so to weirs beach, and the area is scattered with awesome local antique stores and restaurants. 10/10!!!"
