"04/14/2023 After posting my negative experience with Lavalley, they reached out to me and took steps to resolve my issues. Further, they will look into the addressed issues to ensure that behavior is not repeated. Now that is "good business". Thank you //////////////////////////////////////////////// I had a contractor doing work on my home. At completion, he handed me an invoice from Lavalley for approximately $1800.00. He asked that I write the check payable in full to Lavalley and that he would submit payment to Lavalley. I did just that. A few weeks later, I discovered that the contractor had a box of 4 mil plastic unopened, which I paid for on the invoice. Since I did not have any use for the plastic at the time, I went to Lavalley with my receipt for payment and a copy of the check so that I could return the item. The Manager on duty told me even though I wrote the check and it was debited from my account, the contractor was the one who had to return it! I was appalled since I wrote the check from my account and it cleared weeks ago. I left very annoyed and just kept the roll of 4 mil plastic. I have never heard of such a thing. Nonetheless, I kept it in storage and later used the roll of 4 mil plastic to cover wood. Based upon the above, I will NEVER do business with Lavalley as their refund policy just didn't meet my standards, since I WROTE THE CHECK FOR FULL PAYMENT AND WAS DENIED A REFUND......NOT THE CONTRACTOR! Absolutely hideous!!!!!!"
"When I go in, either I am totally ignored, or staff members are very helpful but somehow my requests get lost, never to be heard of again. Most recent incident: Our contractor ordered a new window, that was to include a screen) for our bathroom. The window arrived and was installed, but the screen was missing. Since we were heading into winter, I told the contractor that he didn't need to rush to get the screen, but that we would like it come spring. Well, it's spring, Contractor called LaValley's, who said they had never ordered the screen. It has been reordered, but it's taking forever. I am feeling disgruntled. The window, however is wonderful."
"Great store with great employees. They have always been extremely helpful with things over the years. The lumber selection is generally much better than that of home Depot and they have a good amount of higher quality fasteners and hardware. I always try to support lavalleys over Home Depot just because of how much more pleasant lavalleys employees are to deal with over Home Depot(they could learn a thing or two from lavalleys)."
