"Both of my children attending Hulls Driving School. My daughter was a student during Covid, which was challenging for everyone as the the classes were remote! My son had more of a traditional experience with in person classroom instruction. Both times, I found the Hulls to take their responsibility as driving instructors very seriously. At the first meeting with the parents, we are told in no uncertain terms that our children have been watching us driving since they were toddlers and may have adapted our bad habits. This is very sobering, and has caused me to really be mindful about my own driving behavior, especially when my kids are with me. We also watched a video about the dangers of texting and driving, and how lifesaving seatbelts really are. The videos are of actual scenarios and I found them very powerful and scary. My kids have even taught me some new techniques that they learned in class, such as while waiting in line at a traffic light to make sure you can see the back tires of the car in front of you.....this ensures that you will not slam into them if you are hit from behind. A lot of their instruction revolves around that....combining safety with common sense. I also like that Mr. Hull emphasizes that if the speed limit says 35, it means 35....not 36, 37, or 40! While driving to school last year, my daughter had a deer run out of the woods at her car.....she remember in that instance that Mr. Hull had taught her to angle the car (if road conditions allow) so that the animal would hit the side of the car and not the front. She was able to do that safely at 40mph and the deer did not get hit head on, so while it fell it was able to get back up and run into the woods. Her car ended up with a slight, barely noticeable dent (it would have been much much worse if the deer had been hit head on). I feel that this was money well spent and that both of my children are more confident, safe drivers for taking the Hull's course."
