Orchard School

Orchard School is a unique institution located at 114 Old Settlers Road in Alstead, New Hampshire, United States. The school was built by hundreds of volunteers in 1994 and is now a multi-use gathering space known as The Center at Orchard Hill. This space is used for various activities such as creating, learning, retreating, healing, and dreaming.

The Center at Orchard Hill aims to create a nurturing and accessible community for all, where people can share their authenticity, strengths, and culture. The institution envisions a world of inclusivity and harmony, where people connect with each other and nature through experiences, stories, songs, and art.

Orchard School offers programs for children, youth, and teens that focus on building connections and fostering creativity. These programs include a parent-led preschool cooperative, school-age summer and vacation camps, and teen summer programs.

In addition to programs for younger individuals, Orchard School also hosts all-ages events and gatherings throughout the year. These events celebrate each season and offer something for everyone. The institution is open to new ideas for gatherings and classes, and welcomes individuals and organizations to rent their space for various purposes.

Orchard School acknowledges the land it is situated on as part of the Abenaki nation's homeland, known as N'Dakinna. The school recognizes the Indigenous people who have lived on this land for thousands of years and acknowledges the history of violence and settler colonialism that has shaped the area. By acknowledging the land's history, Orchard School takes a small step towards justice and reconciliation.
