"I want to thank the hostess at The Dorset Inn who made our visit on January 25 this year very special. It was so nice to be recognized for our 15 plus years visiting this lovely Inn.It’s warm comfortable and relaxing . Love the atmosphere. We have introduced several friends to this special place and look forward to next year."
"We dine here often and it's usually very good. This time, the Sunday b4 MLK Day, our margaritas were distinctly bitter with way too much citric acid, even after we told our server to make them sweeter the 2nd round. Next, we both ordered the roasted chicken breast & our meal wound up taking an inordinate amount of time to be served. It was only after we inquired about our meal 50 minutes later, that we were offered a couple of rolls by the hostess to hold us over. We believe, this should have been automatically given by our server vs her offering it to us for a fee, as a way of making up for the obvious delay of our food. This simple act would have eliminated our need to speak to the hostess. Although, we understand it was a holiday weekend which delays when you get your food, the chicken came out dry and the skin soggy vs crispy as it should have been, given it was, "roasted!" If it wasn't for the gravy that we thankfully ordered as an extra on the side, it would have been VERY dry to eat. So, not only did we wait an extra long time for our food, it was also poorly prepared. When we were politely honest with our server upon being ASKED how our meal was, instead of getting a simple apology, we were met with excuses given in a defensive tone, that were clearly untrue. Hence, we were paying top dollar to be gaslit by our server! We were made to feel llike we were the bad guys for being politely honest. Our advice : Be weary of dining there on a holiday weekend as their staff doesn't appear to be able to accommodate larger crowds. Good luck!"
"We were here visiting the inn as part of the Vermont Country Inns Holiday Tour to support the local food bank. We did not stay over but did have a chance to walk through the inn including some of the guest rooms. This is a sister property to the Barrows Inn just up the road. The holiday decor was very pretty and snacks welcomed the tour visitors. Many rooms were visible including pet and family friendly. The rooms are modernly outfitted and quite lovely yet still all very unique with their own personal charm"
"We are at the restaurant. We did not stay at the Inn. Food was very good. It is on the expensive side, so just be prepared. We were seated in a nice room with the fireplace, so the ambiance was great. Good place for a special occasion."
"We didn't stay at the inn but we had dinner reservations tonight. Firstly, when we arrived and mentioned we had a reservation, we didn't expect to be seated in the loud, crowded tavern for our special anniversary. We were told by the hostess that next time that we want to dine there that we should ask to be seated in the main dining room. We weren't told there's an option for seating preference until you arrive and they end up seating you somewhere else that is not the main dining room. The ambiance was not the same as it was last year. It was very loud being seated next to the bar and the kitchen in the middle of the tavern. The food was good and the price was worth it but what a disappointment this time around. Our starters and main meal were delivered on time; however, our dining experience was ruined by not being told about the seating preference when making the reservation and then given a less desirable option when there's nothing else available at the moment you arrive. Let's hope next time is a better experience."
