About the Business
The Sleeping Beauty Mountain Summit is a popular tourist attraction located in Fort Ann, New York. This park offers a relatively easy hike suitable for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The trail follows an old road that gently ascends the mountain, with no overly steep portions along the way. Hikers will gain 1,259 feet in elevation to reach the summit at 2,347 feet above sea level.
The trail starts from Dacy Clearing Road in the Lake George Wild Forest, leading to the open rocky top of Sleeping Beauty. From the summit, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the southern portion of Lake George, including islands, other mountains, and the opposite shore. Parking is available at the Hogtown parking lot or the Dacy Clearing lot, with the option to loop around to Bumps Pond for a longer hike.
Please note that Dacy Clearing Road is only open seasonally, so visitors may need to walk the 1.6 miles to reach the main mountain trail. However, the road is flat and level, making for an easy walk in and out. Don't forget to check out one of the Adirondack trail guides for more information on this beautiful hiking destination.

"Just beautiful! We were lucky enough that the weather was sunny and we could see for miles! The summit doesn't have trees so you're treated with a huge 270 degree view of the surrounding area. Highly recommend!"
"Beautiful place, bald summit with 270 degree view, including Lake George! The trail is pretty wet/icy in winter, so bring spikes if you plan to hike up here in winter. The road to the trail head closes seasonally (gate is where shelving rock rd branches off), so be prepared to hike an extra 1.5 miles each way if you're not already accounting for the closure. Lots of people go to this summit as part of the Lake George 12ster challenge, and it's part of a loop that also goes to Erebus. Sleeping beauty is much more well traveled, so you'll see more people and their dogs for that section. Great trail, well maintained!"
"This place is just amazing!! The view from the top is georgeus in fall and the hike very nice! Recommended 100%! Expect 3h30 to make it at a normal pace, almost not stopping. Pics are from mid October. Enjoy!"
"It had been years since I'd hiked Sleeping Beauty. Came up here last week for a beautiful view of the sunset over Lake George. The hike is steady and rocky at times, but relatively quick. I was amazed how intense the wind was when I made it out of the trees and onto the summit - made for an unforgettable experience. Definitely a must if you're looking for something to do. Bring suitable shoes, water, and a good snack to enjoy at the top! Should be amazing as the leaves continue to change."
"Second time I've done this hike and it's great one for anyone to complete. The ascent/descent is gradual. Some parts of the trail are very muddy, so waterproof hiking shoes/boots would be smart to use. Took me about an hour to get to the summit and the views of Lake George, the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains are great."
