"Really delicious food with amazing service! I would 100% recommend stopping in for dinner. We were even treated with some small bite-sized desserts that were incredibly yummy. We will be back again soon!"
"Rocking a quaint hole-in-the-wall vibe, Namaste Garden is centrally located right off of Park Street in Essex Junction, with convenient parking around back. With tables for sixteen on the outside deck and about the same inside, this Indian restaurant sports an intimacy that many larger establishments lack. One of three brothers who co-own and operate Namaste cheerfully explained (after I’d shared with him that I was Whole Food Plant Based) how any of the meals could be made vegan. (After which he cheerfully explained to my wife that they did not serve meat.) We started by ordering a sweet potato dish as an appetizer. As my wife commented, this dish tasted like no other sweet potato (or yam, for that matter) she’d had before. Basted in a dark brownish sweet sauce and sprinkled with unidentifiable seasonings, each forkful offered up a different hint of exotic spice. I had a mango-based dish as my main course, which went quite well with the accompanying saffron rice. Although a little sweet for my taste, the meal’s level of spiciness was perfect for me (I had ordered medium, and typically enjoy spicy food). My wife had a mushroom/cheese based dish whose sauce I tried and found to be extremely tasty with its earthy umami base and multi-faceted flavor profile—a dish that the chef offered to prepare for me as vegan for our next visit. We look forward to returning for another delicious taste of India in the near future!"
"Pleasurable Flavorful Lunch Experience. The three brothers were very cordial and the service was fast. All dishes were packed with flavor. Portions were large and we took multiple things home. Worth stopping here for a great meal. Extensive Menu with so many plant based meals!"
"We met the two chef-brothers and their recipe-creating father at their new restaurant. We were so happy with their food that it took restraint not to hug them. I’m not kidding. Within the first few bites of food, we knew – they’re gonna need a bigger place. We had Shahi Thali, a combination of great dishes, rice, bread, etc. We don’t eat meat or dairy and the chefs accommodated us. Their saag was the best I’ve ever had. Their Dal Makani, Dal Tarka, Rajma curry and Chana curry were just the best. At home we usually eat at an Indian restaurant that was on the Yelp Top 100 list for 5 years in a row, so its no little thing to say this restaurant makes The Best Indian food we’ve ever had. By 6 they were packed, inside and outside. We just beat the crowd and considering how many dishes we ordered, it was a good thing! We ordered nearly the same food to go so we could enjoy it - morning and night – for the following few days until we flew home. It was so delicious that if I lived nearby, I’d eat there every day. The chefs were so humble for their talent and their father was proud of the results of his recipes. This family knows flavor and how to best represent the food of their ancestors. They also respect their guests and happily make vegan, vegetarian and mildly spiced dishes. We miss them. I mean it. Of all the people, places and experiences we had, we miss this family and their wonderful food. I’ve considered asking them to ship an order to me, but I don’t believe they’re set up to do that yet. They’re still grappling with the fact that, after a few months, their new place is already not big enough."
"First time here and food was so delicious and service was amazing. The staff are so friendly and gracious and provided some recommendations as the menu has many choices. All vegetarian which is a plus! The naan proportions are generous and we tried the thalli sampler with paneer and the eggplant pakora. Everything was delicious and next time we will get the spice level hot! Mango lassi was also good! Not overly sweet!"
