"It's a beautiful air force planes museum very interesting place."
"There's a B-47 and FB-111 here, very cool place"
"I was driving by but I have stoped to eat at the burger king and the view of the f111 and the b47 are great the best thing is the conditions they are in. It is a nice park if you are going somewhere. It is best to go when it is Nice out because it can get windy and cold. Or hot. It is something you do not see every day."
"Standing on the former site of the Plattsburgh Air Force Base, two behemoths representing Cold War innovation stand through all weathers in dedication both to the relationship between the United States Air Force and the town of Plattsburgh, and to the man that helped bring them to the area: Clyde A. Lewis. Lewis, as a Major in the Army Air Corps, completed two impressive tours of duty during the Second World War, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters, an Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, a Distinguished Unit Citation with one oak leaf cluster, a Croix De Guerre with palm, and the European Campaign Medal with six battle stars. Returning home from the war, Clyde Lewis continued to support the military by working through the ranks of the Veterans of Foreign Wars until becoming Commander-in-Chief of the organization. It was through this capacity that Lewis was able to lobby the Pentagon to pursue the construction of an Air Force Base in Plattsburgh in 1952. When the Air Force Base was finally decommissioned in 1995, the United States Air Force and the citizens of Plattsburgh decided to commemorate his legacy through the presentation of one FB-111 Aadvark, and one F-47E Stratojet on the former site of the base - near the current site of the Air Force Base Museum as well as the War of 1812 Museum. Guests are able to visit the park free-of-charge, but with the encouragement to donate or volunteer to support the maintenance of the monuments. The site is accessible to those with limited mobility, being flat and reachable via a parking lot on one side and a sidewalk on the other - providing that individuals are able to cross a small grassy area. Considering the care and attention that has been given not only to preserve a monumental aspect of local history but also in ensuring the site is clean and interactive for all - particularly noting the donations made from local businesses - I would encourage all to repay that act of dedication by affording a few moments to stand, wonder, think, and appreciate."
"Stationed at PAFB 8 years. Fond memories. Memorial dignifies the the former military installation with honor."
