Townsend House

"I was raised in Townsend and I've been around the area my whole life. In that time I've seen a lot of things change, but never the Townsend House. It's a great family restaurant with great food. We got there at 6:30 on a Saturday night, the place was pretty full, and they still made room for us. Food came quickly and everything was great. Kudos to the staff, especially the waitress, she was friendly and quick even though the place was full and our order was complicated. Absolutely highly recommended, if you're just going to the bar for a drink or bringing the whole family"

"Housemade everything (Onion rings, mozz sticks w/marinara, fried pickles, Buffalo chicken rangoons, and stuffed mushrooms), and it was all delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the house rootbeer was great as well!"

"This is where the locals go for a good meal and fine libations. Always hopping. A local "Cheers". Pros: warm, woody, cozy, informal atmosphere with plenty of curio antique appointments on the walls. Family owned and run for 50 years. Great food and great value. Worth a special visit."

"The atmosphere was great. It has a nice pub feel with lots of interesting things to look at while dining. The food is reasonably priced, but average at best. To my horror, the salad was chopped up so small, it resembled salsa! All attempts to eat it with a fork was near impossible, stressful, and embarrassing as it kept falling off the fork before it reached my mouth. I gave up and pushed it to the side. The soup was tasty, but luke warm. The second entrée was uneventful. Our server was excellent, but the bartender was not very attentive and uninterested. We decided to forgo a second round of beers and skip dessert."

"We travel to NH to find blueberry milk, yes that’s right blueberry milk, so delicious. In our travels, this is actually our 2nd time here. My wife ordered the baked stuffed haddock, I had the swordfish. Both were very good, my wife’s had very good flavor. In the dining room, I certainly like the atmosphere. So many vintage signs there, I’m presuming they are from the area. The place is clean, staff is rather quick and had no issues. We will certainly be back."
