"Great hut for beginners, 3 mile hike up isn't bad. They have the newest bathrooms in the AMC NH huts. There are 48 bunks, that have sleeping pads, pillows and wool blankets."
"I would like to start with the good. These huts are in the wilderness and all have incredible views, fresh air and beautiful skies. The hut is on the rugged side with limited amenities (no electric outlet to charge phones), no fresh sheets or showers but this is to be expected in the middle of no where. Sleeping arangements were shared bunk rooms with a pillow, bed pad and wool sheet, its advisable to bring your own sleeping bag/pillow/pad ect. This is definitely a huge step up from sleeping in the bush! As for the food, dinner was atrocious, i understand a hot meal is limited, and people do not go for the meals but the main course was a blackened burger made of black beans and course onions and fire roasted corn with course onions. Both were hardly palatable. Breakfast was great! I do have some gripes which is why I did not rate this 5 stars. In my opinion the AMC has likely hired a diversity consultant. I believe that the loss of business during covid has caused a knee jerk reaction to seek new business. With the diversity mindset, it seems that the AMC has decided to express there political stance regarding inclusion with the mandatory use of "pronouns" by their staff. The staff also did skits during meals that included expressing feeling and emotions to other staff members. I wholeheartedly believe that the staff should continue (and exclusively) take a more educational approach to the wilderness on those topics ie astrology, history of the white mountains, wildlife ect would be a much better approach."
"An amazing rest and recharge before getting down the mountain. Staffed 24 hours a day all season. Complementary breakfast and dinner and other options to purchase. Had a hot coffee and snack and felt new again."
"This is the best post-Haystack, Lincoln, Lafayette hut ever. I would argue that it is better to go in that order, and take a break here, than to pass by this hut at the start of your loop. Plus, you meet a lot of cool people here."
"We stopped on our way through, great place for a rest and pit stop. Free potable water is available here. The staff were very friendly. Also the view of mount Lafayette is great, being already more than 3/4 of the way up."
