About the Business
The South Royalton Legal Clinic, located at 190 Chelsea Street in Royalton, Vermont, is dedicated to providing legal assistance to Vermont residents who are unable to afford counsel. Specializing in Family Law and Veterans issues, the clinic is staffed by approximately 40 Vermont Law & Graduate School student clinicians and work-study students who represent clients in over 150 court, administrative, and other appearances each year.
Under the guidance of experienced staff attorneys, students at the clinic handle cases from start to finish, including interviewing clients, conducting research, drafting briefs and motions, and representing clients in court. The clinic experience is transformative for students, fostering a deep commitment to public service and providing a valuable introduction to legal practice.
Second- and third-year JD students have the opportunity to work in the clinic full-time or part-time for one semester, with the option to return for advanced work with permission. In the Advanced course, students further develop their understanding of relevant law and lawyering skills, taking on greater responsibility for cases and mentoring newer clinicians.
The South Royalton Legal Clinic plays a crucial role in protecting the rights of clients through high-quality legal assistance, and has trained many leading legal service providers in Vermont. If you are in need of legal assistance and meet the clinic's criteria, please refer to the flow chart below to see if they can assist you.

Reviews
"Of some help, but the clinic needs to have more help available for the community."
"Due to a conflict of interest they cannot help me nor answer simple questions to steer me in a direction that I have not already exhausted all resources of in this fight since 2015 apparently now we have a conflict of interest but didn't when they called me regarding my current status in the court so getting sick and tired of Vermont and their false hope. My ex has kidnapped my son said he doesn't care about the visitation rights left state lines and I don't know what I'm going to see my son again so now what do I do....."
