Reviews of Hong Kong Garden
"Called to make sure they served Mai tai drinks. The guy said yah $10. I was like oh you do serve Mai tia and he said yeah $10. So we go... It's down a dark alley, but I mean I could see a nice resturant being down a dark alley I guess. The paper sign on the door had food running down it yuck. Then we open the door to a filthy set of stairs. It's 6pm on a Thursday and not one customer in the resturant. We stayed because my son wanted to find a place next PSU that he could walk to. The entire place is very dirty and I'm still thinking we'll maybe the chef is good. Optimistic thinking. We get our 3 dinner orange chicken. The broccoli tasted rancid and I love steamed broccoli. The orange chicken and rice at best tasted bland but actually pretty disgusting. Then we fund out it was a "miscommunication" that they don't actually serve alcohol. All they have are cans of soda and water with no ice in it. He just knew what a Mai tai was and that is cost $10. The bill was $91.23 for 3 people. Went to pay and hit $0 for the tip after watching them try to figure out how to take the payment for 5 minutes. The waitress proceeded to argue with me about putting $0 for a tip. I explained the food was the worst chinese I'd ever had. Obviously not going back and not recommending."
"Absolutely do not order from hong kongs, I ordered 20.90$ worth of food and they charged me 24.76$ mind you they told me they had no delivery fee and when i asked to check my receipt he refused and pretended like he didn’t speak English. Oh not to mention I wasn’t going to tip because they had over charged me and he decided that i was rude and tipped himself 4.95$ so no they will never be getting my money ever again and i hope they see this and change because other people do not deserve to go through this"
"They're way to expensive to be in a college town. They don't have anything small just large. They don't even give you a free egg roll or a soda after spending over a 100$ in food. Every other Chinese shop I've been to reward you for spending over 40$ worth of food. He laughed at me when I asked what's do I get free."
"First off the entry was blocked so you cannot sit at any tables so we called in and picked up our order to a hostess with some sort of carcass on the counter which she proceeded to move out of sight. The Cook came out to take my payment and his hands were covered with a substance that resembled sauce of sort as he mumbled our overprice order. My wife asks for additional duck sauce and the gentleman cook was pleasant and brought out a container which had the consistency and color of barbecue sauce. We brought the food home and immediately my daughter vowed to not partake in dinner due to her friend getting food poison from there prior to. I said how bad could it be? Well I would say if there are no other Chinese restaurants open but this one it’s better just to get pizza."
"The staff was very nice. It was my first time picking up takeout, and I wasn't sure where to go to pick it up. I called a 2nd time and they let me know to go down the alley to the left. It was very dark inside, and I was a little put off by the inside. That being said my family liked the food. The pork fried rice was a bit bland but pretty standard. The chicken fingers were decent. My family liked the General Gaus chicken, but it wasn't for me. I prefer spicy for tsos or gaus. The egg roll was not edible, small red pieces of pork and just not tasty. They want to eat there again at some point, I probably will skip it."
