"this camp ground used to care about its seasonals and anybody passing through but over the past few years it has gone down hill. they used to grab your leaves at the end of your sight while you were cleaning now you have to bring it to the barn and put it in a dumpster that will only fit 2 sites. they dont enforce rules so cars fly through the campground. dogs on the beach. lack of comunications. they have no care for anybody they only want the money which gets more exspensive every year."
"Camping in a hole. Our camper needed to be up on wood blocks. Internet was not available for the first few days. We are waiting to see if we can get access as we still have the rest of the week to contend with. Dogs can swim in the cove, this was a plus. So far not the best but certainly not the worst"
"I'm not sure why there are so many 4 and 5 star ratings. We were there in a 36 ft motorhome and it is not big rig friendly. We were assigned a spot that was tough to get in and was too unlevel. The staff was able to get us into a little better spot and we appreciated it. The pond was nice."
"We are avid campers who camp 6 months a year. We were looking to try a new place last weekend and picked Sandy Beach campground. Though we have our own camper, we went tent camping here for a more primitive experience. Our site was a 30amp w/e site for 2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs and a tent nestled in the B section with some great seasonals. Pros: Quiet campground. I cannot stress enough how pleased we were with how quiet everyone was. As mentioned above we were in the B section in the back. There was 1 empty transient site next to us and the rest were seasonals. Everyone we met was helpful and friendly. By 930, everyone in our section went to bed. The game room is awesome. A little bit of a walk from where we were but a mostly flat and easy walk. The game room was super clean. The same building had laundry facilities for guest use as well as a bathroom. The dog park is so nice. Again, lots of friendly people here. The dogs were great and the fenced-in area is well maintained. All grass so you aren't kicking up sand or anything else. The beach is nice and spacey. They also have a playground in nice condition but my daughter opted out on the playground. She was just having more fun exploring and making friends with the kids at the campground. They sell a good amount of wood (by the square) for 12.00 and you can haul it to your site in one of their little wagons and then bring the wagon back for the next person. That's a great price and self-service to offer. The staff members were all super helpful. They all worked together really well in the store/office and when doing activities. It was great to see such teamwork! There were not many golf carts, which was fine with us. We only saw people on electric golf carts which was even better. There really isn't too much of a need for a golf cart here anyhow because as I previously mentioned, it's mostly a flat and easy walk here. So I really loved it was so quiet, golf carts included. Neutral and Cons: Roads are very narrow. We found many people ignored stop signs and drove at their own speed. There did not appear to be any staff around to enforce driving rules. Store hours are limited and they close at 6 pm, even on a saturday. During our short stay, we notice it is mostly a seasonal community and they don't appear to have many transients /travelers / weekenders around so maybe that's why they have limited hours. There were phone numbers posted through the campground, so I'm sure in an emergency you would be able to get in touch with someone. We were not able to pick our own site. A site was provided to us with our online booking. It would have been more convenient if we could have seen a map of the sites available so we could pick our own site. Admittedly I was discouraged when we first pulled in and saw we were surrounded by seasonals but luckily they were all really great and quiet. But I probably would have chosen a site closer to the bathhouse because we have a child. Again, it was still a great experience but would have been nice to have the option. The bathrooms did have toilet paper, which was awesome. Appeared to have free showers but the light does not work in there so it's very hard to see. Leave it better than how you found it, they say. When we pulled into our site, we were a bit surprised to see so much little bits of plastics and other debris. We thought that maybe they forgot to clean our site but we noticed lots of small pieces along the sides of the roads during our stay. We picked up several zip ties, wrappers, papers and bottle caps which was very surprising to us. Overall a very clean place in terms of facilities and you don't see piles of stuff outside people's sites but the little bits on the ground were one of two things we did not like. The light in the bathroom being the other. We would love to come back again in the future before this season is over for more family memories. ❤️"
