"We love this little beach area! It’s one of the only places I know of around here that allows dogs all the time. The sandy area is a little small and when the tide is in there’s a lot less space. it’s a bit more marshy than beachy but there are a few sand bars that you can walk out to. Once the tide goes out both of them are exposed so there is plenty of area to walk around and sit in the sand. This is an “on leash” beach but we always walk over to the sand bar in the middle of the harbor once the tide starts going out so our dog can chase the tennis ball and swim off leash. This is a public area next to a boat launch and restaurant so there are usually families and kids running around but as long as you put yourself in a spot where you and your dog will be comfortable, you’ll be good! There are public bathrooms over near the restaurant and there is even a walking trail around the marsh if you’re looking for something else to do. If I had to guess, the town of Wells may have fun little gatherings here as well since there is a covered picnic area, a playground and a huge gazebo. This is located across from the peninsula that Wells beach is on so there are no waves!"
"We read other reviews and thought the beach was for dogs to be off leash. Unfortunately that wasn’t completely true. We did have our off leash but had to walk away from all others on the beach (people and dogs on leash). I normally would care about the walk but we had a lot of stuff with us and had to make a couple of trips to the place where we finally put our chairs."
"Quiet and small spot for those who bring dogs on vacation. Most beaches in the area are not dog friendly or if they state they are there are many rules, time frames and regulations. This area is a bit marshy, not the large sand beaches like ogonquit Beach. If you want a peaceful spot that is dog friendly I highly recommend. Both our small dogs had a great time in the shallow water !"
"Very disappointed in this spot. Was hoping for a small beach with some other dogs for our pup to play with and let her play in the water. Instead we came to a spot of sand filled with adults sunbathing and loads of kids. That one part of the beach is meant for dogs...not a ton of kids. Also, only saw 2 other dogs that their owners kept close because of all the kids. Would not recommend taking your dogs and will not be going back."
