Reviews of Burnt Island Light
"We kayaked to this island from Boothbay Harbor and it was one of the best experiences from our trip. While we weren’t able to tour the lighthouse and surrounding buildings (only open on certain days), we walked around the lighthouse and surrounding field. There were a public restroom and picnic tables as well."
"Beautiful island and views! We kayaked to the lighthouse through a kayak rental location in Boothbay Harbor. It took about 45 minutes to get out there and the same on the way back. We got there to see the grounds open to the public. However, the keepers buildings are ONLY open on Saturdays and Sundays for two hours each day. It would’ve been nice to know beforehand since the website didn’t disclose that info. Either way, we did enjoy our time on the island."
"You definitely can’t see the Burnt Island Light from Capitol Island. Maps is inaccurate in giving directions. Best seen from Spruce Point as the lighthouse is on the far side of the island! Access is via boat or kayak. Photo is from boat"
"I highly recommend this experience for everyone, including families. It’s scenic, adventurous and altogether unique. And while you’re there, the lighthouse keepers will tour you around the lighthouse and tell you stories from their years caring for the island."
"I loved this trip. It's gorgeous and the history of the island is incredible. I highly recommend for families to take the trip."
