"Loved the hike at this park. Cost was very reasonable, $4.00 per adult for a non resident. We took the rangers recommendation and went up the notch trail to get to the south peak since the trail to the south peak is very steep. Once visiting the south peak we headed to the north peak. It is definitely steep coming down the north peak trail but definitely doable. All in all we liked the view from the south peak the best. Overall a really great hike and beautiful location!"
"We love this park. Everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly and professional. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and were tended every day. We loved that this campground had individual showers and bathrooms, so you have complete privacy. The hiking trails were well marked and easy to follow, but be warned the hike up the south peak is STEEP! You should definitely follow the park recommendations to climb it first, then move clockwise around to the north peak. We are experienced hikers and found this climb a little daunting, but we made it and completed the entire hike! The beach area is nice and is within walking distance of the campground, however it is uphill back to the campground. The campground sites are nicely spaced with most being in wooded areas. Overall we would definitely camp here again. BTW, be sure to check out the solar system models on Highway 1 from Houlton to Presque Isle. They are pretty cool."
"A very pretty state park! We hiked the north peak trail - definitely recommend bringing poles. It is doable without, but it is steep. Very nice views and it is always fun to look across the way and see bits of Canada! The lake is also very pretty."
"Had a great time! The trails are definitely challenging, the south peak is not for the faint of hearth or legs. We had a blast fishing, swimming and exploring. We saw a baby maine black bear, deer, geese, ducks and other wildlife. Near to Presque Isle full off good food and activities."
"The views with fall colors turning are truly amazing! I’m here in early October and the trees are beautiful. The trails to the north and south peaks are no joke. When they say steep, they mean it. It doesn’t look like there’s a safe way down the south trail, so you should really plan to take the notch trail back down. I went up to the north peak, across to the south and then down the notch. Worth every step!"
