"Used to be great when they were Sanford Institute of Savings and were more people and community focused. When they switched brands they replaced a lot of the familiar faces and started to feel more like a large chain bank where you're just a number. I moved across the country and kept this account going while I weaned into my new local small bank and recently have tried to close this one out and put an end to the chapter. I have been unable to close it out and keep getting ridiculous fees. I opted out of overdraft when I opened the account with SIS and yet I have 6 overdraft fees 5 of which have been accrued over the past couple of weeks while I've been trying to make transfers from my new account to this one. I called today to get assistance and apparently this isn't something that can be done from their mobile banking app, despite the fact that every other mobile banking app can do this just fine. It has to be done from browser. When I asked if I could have the recent overdraft fees waived in light of the new information that this is in fact a flaw with their own app which they also admitted, they said that they could only waive 2, out of 6. I specifically opted out of overdraft when I opened the account, and apparently that doesn't apply to scheduled payments. This wasn't disclosed to me but fine, I'll give the benefit of the doubt. The part that is infuriating is that I have been trying to initiate the transfer fro my new linked account for the past two weeks which is when most of the overdrafts were dropped on me and simply was unable to because of a flaw in their technology. It's disgusting. And on top of that I got charged $10 multiple times for returned mail fees when I have electronic alerts set up. This was a minor grievance before which I had called multiple times to fix but after the recent events it just feels like a scam. I can't wait to pay the account even and be done with them."
