"I have never had a bad experience at this office , been a patient for years , and that I love Dr. Guptil to death. She has only been kind and caring and gave me referrals if I needed them. She is always out to make sure my health is on track. The problem with the office is the patients. Delmar is loaded with some whackadoos- not all but some. I’ve seen people come in with huge attitudes and really be nasty to the receptionists. If you are going to treat someone like something on the bottom of your shoe, then of course you’re going to get an attitude back. It would help if people came in, smiled and said, how are you today? to the office staff . You catch more flies with honey."
"Within a time frame of two months now I have called six times and never gotten a callback. I’ve lost my medication. I have serious medical issues that are now being ignored. Do not come here. They obviously have no idea how to treat their patients. I used to love the doctor that I had. But I will not be ignored, especially when it comes to my health, rapidly deteriorating at 22 years old with a child under one year. I cannot explain how many times I have told them there is an issue, so they run blood tests but then tell me everything comes back completely negative and I’m fine. I’m not fine and I know my body. Please listen to the people who are PAYING YOU to help them."
"I'm trying to find a new doctor and getting very frustrated, being told I wouldn't be able to get in for a year at least (been calling all over the region for weeks now). I made the mistake of expressing that frustration (didn't swear, but I was near tears and getting angry because my prescriptions are about to run out) and they told me to never call back and hung up on me. In general, doctors and nurse practitioners are a special, caring breed, but front office staff is rude and uncaring. I have nothing good to say about my experience with this organization."
"A medical doctor is only as good as their support staff. You really need a sharp team that's with it and proactive. The medical care in this office and Albany is not safe. If I had an elderly person in my family who patronized this place, I would be worried. When you call the front desk, no one understands what a referral is, or what to do with a referral. They wait on paper work and are not proactive about patient care. They are staffed but everyone is clueless. It's worrying."
"Update: Read below Exceptional care from Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and Nurses. Appointments do not feel rushed, calls are returned promptly, prescriptions are written and refilled with efficiency. Treatment by staff in check-in/registration is a disconnect in that my experience is almost always negative. Staff seems apathetic and lilting towards rude. It has rarely, if ever, been busy in the office prior to an appointment. During my last appointment, I noticed computer printed and hand written signs that put me off. Signs along the lines of, MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND WE WILL NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH ONE. Really? That policy is just begging for a hostile interaction. My observation is that the receptionists are primed for fighting with patients I love all the doctors, nurses, techs, etc and it would make for a nicer experience if admin staff were as polite to me as I am to them. UPDATE: I came in for a check-up the first week of 2023. I was behind an elderly couple waiting to check in. The husband was a bit rude and the receptionist seemed ready to return the rudeness. Then I watched as the receptionist changed her strategy and began to “manage” the husband with polite guidance. He continued to be belligerent but the receptionist continued in her approach and in the end, had the husband reasonably calm. I was impressed! I worked in outward facing customer service jobs for 40+ years and appreciate how difficult it can be when people are nasty to you. Just remember that patients arrive with much anxiety over their illness, fear of doctors, fear of needles and fear of not being able to afford treatment. That doesn’t make it OK to abuse the receptionists but maybe keeping this in mind will help receptionists to remember that the rudeness is not really directed at the."
