Reviews of Sweet Baby Doula - Sara Epstein
"Sara is a compassionate, attuned, and skilled Doula. Working with her helped us feel prepared for our birth and she recommended additional resources throughout that were also very helpful (classes, lactation consultant, websites, etc.). We had a challenging and unexpected birth experience and she was a phenomenal advocate for us. Her knowledge and advocacy especially helped us at a critical juncture in the decision making process during the birth of our first child. Sara is well respected and professional."
"My husband and I interviewed several doulas and both felt that Sara’s calm demeanor and experience as a doula made her the best fit for us. Out first impression was correct! I wound up having preeclampsia and needed to be induced at 37 weeks. Sara used her years of knowledge and extensive network to help advise on medical decisions along the way. Thank goodness for Sara as she had the expertise to give me different options for laboring since I had to stay in bed. Tips like heating pads were great! I found great comfort in her touch techniques and mantras during contractions. It is very physically demanding job, but she doesn’t let up. The induction process was long and stressful and having Sara provided great comfort and reassurance for my husband as well. While the complications from preeclampsia ultimately ended in a C-section, having Sara there to help make decisions was invaluable. Her postpartum visit after helped me process the birth experience and reminded me of my strength."
"We couldn't have asked for a better birth doula than Sara. She's incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and caring, and we felt lucky to have her by our side throughout the labor and delivery process. One of the things we appreciated most about Sara was her science-informed approach. When I had been pushing for three hours and was close to needing a vacuum, Sara made a suggestion to my OB that helped me deliver the baby without intervention. She also helped me cope with the pain and maintain good posture for optimal delivery. Sara was a wealth of information from the moment we started working with her. She shared research-informed tips on everything from preparing for birth to breastfeeding to caring for our newborn. She also knew her way around the Newton Wellesley Hospital and was able to work seamlessly with the nurses and OBs there. I was especially grateful that she made it possible to get a lactation consultant to help me less than 20 minutes after the baby was born. Sara also helped my husband play an active role in the process and supported us both throughout the entire experience. Overall, we can't recommend Sara enough. If you're looking for a birth doula who is knowledgeable, experienced, and caring, she's the one to choose."
"Sara is incredible - I could not recommend her more! This was my first birth so I really didn't know what to expect. She worked with me and my husband to create a wonderful birth plan, recommended classes based on my preferences, and was with us every step of the way from early labor to delivery. My labor was unfathomably long, but Sara stuck with us the whole time, even when we had to make some difficult but necessary decisions and throw the plan all out the window 5 days later. I truly cannot imagine what my birth experience would have been like without her!"
"Working with Sara was one of the best choices we made for our pregnancy/labor journey. It was nice to have her as a support/resource leading up to the labor when we had questions about early signs of labor etc. She was also very helpful in teaching us some baby positioning exercises to do at home. During labor, Sara was there for every contraction, relieving the pain (I did natural birth/no epidural). This not only gave me the physical relief I needed but also allowed my husband to focus on being a great emotional support for me. We are so glad to have worked with Sara!"
