"Aurora Healthcare has been the best primary care I've gone to. I have been seeing Dawn for around three years now I believe. Nobody before Dawn actually listened to me and helped me figure out ways to help with some of my health conditions. I see all these negative reviews and can't even fathom how they can speak this way about Dawn. To each their own and all that but wow. Dawn has helped with my pulmonary issues in a way that is a miracle! She got me into the dermatologist who got me a skin biopsy and figured out what I've been struggling with for years and has me on medication now that 100% clears up my hands and feet so I can walk and do dishes without crying. She's been incredibly attentive to my needs and has always listened to me from day one. I also can say she is great with children. I saw a review where a woman accused her of doing something, making it sound like it was done just to do it and got dhhs involved. I can say in my experience she is not going to lie or do something like that and If she has to report something it's for a good reason. She helped me with my daughter when she was troubled and we dealt with it. She contacted the crisis worker and we worked out a plan. I brought my child home until we could get her into a place to help. Dawn never made us feel uncomfortable or did anything out of line; she was fantastic and helpful. She is also very attentive and great with my youngest child during her appointments. If I call or message her in the portal she or one of her staff always calls me back or messages me back. Her staff have gotten all my referrals done and I've had many and Kelly who is also just amazing always gets my p.a’s done and if something is wrong and I contact them she is right on it. The staff Dawn has working reception etc now are all very sweet and on top of everything I need. The office is clean and organized. I have absolutely no complaints. I love you guys and thank you for making my primary care something I look forward to and not dread. You all rock!"
"I do not recommend this office to anyone. I have never been treated so poorly at a doctor's office in my life of 51 years. At the front desk, I tried handing my license to verify my name and address, and the attendant would not take it, but rather asked me to verify openly... I have a professional job, where my name address and phone number should not be announced in the waiting room where others can hear it. During visit Dawn was unprofessional, and unempathetic. Patients should be treated with respect. If you are like me, and prefer to be treated with respect, don't become a patient of this practice."
"Myself and my 3 children see Dawn. We had the hardest time finding something local and they were our only shot. These reviews scared me but so far they have been AMAZING. i have a long list of medical needs and they have whipped out referrals for me left and right. They even have it printed out and ready at checkout. They have 4 patients to keep for awhile if they continue the awesome work."
"Frank and I have been patients for almost 3 years now. Dawn and her staff are well attentive to our needs, she takes the time to talk to you, without feeling like a number or rushed out the door. I highly recommend this office for all of your health care needs!!"
"I have been a patient here for over 2 years. I have had an average experience. I will explain in detail what went well and what went poorly. I am a transgender patient. They have used my name and pronouns consistently. They made mistake but apologized when pointed out. Aurora also prescribes my HRT and monitors my levels. Referrals to other doctors sometimes fell through the cracks. Often waiting for months. So you may need to advocate for yourself and be a squeaky wheel. I see the receptionists are hard at work, so I do not blame them for trying. I expect their job is hard and thankless. I think they do a decent job and I am grateful. Aurora Healthcare changed locations from Waterville to Fairfield about 1.5 years ago. There was some chaos in that transition. They had staffing issues. Not enough receptionists. You would call the phone number and it would just ring and ring and no one would pick up. I was upset. What happens if I had a real emergency and I needed to get in contact with my PCP? Keeping this in mind I have been much more proactive with making sure my medications are filled, all scripts are current and there are refills. I know not everyone has that energy or organization capacity. It is unfortunate you will need to be this persistent sometimes to get medications Since being Dawn's patient I have been seen for Depression and ADHD. Dawn did a gene test to determine what medications worked well with your genes. After getting the results she discussed it with me and then made her recommendations. I am fine being a guinea pig and trying new medications but I know other people are much more skittish. After some experimentation with medications my Anxiety/Depression/ADHD has been greatly reduced. Medication does not solve everything but it takes the edge off. Dawn did warn me that she would only prescribe up to X dose. And for a more complex medication regime she recommended medication management through someone else. I choose to do this because I am concerned with maximizing my level of functioning. I also saw dawn for cough/cold symptoms and she prescribed me antibiotics because it was bacterial. Another time I got cold/cough symptoms again. She diagnosed it was viral. She did not prescribe antibiotics but said I could take over the counter to reduce my side effects and get plenty of rest and it will heal in time. I was pleased and thankful and felt respected. Dawn also treated me for a intense leg rash. Dawn prescribed an powerful anti-itch cream and an...anti-itch pill? The pill was so I would not feel compelled to scratch and let my body heal. It took about 1-2 months for the rash to go away even with the medications. Appointments may take up to a week to get an appointment. Also if show up 5 minutes late they will make you reschedule. So get there early! Do not risk being late! Dawn is a very direct person. She will tell you the facts and her recommendations. Her bedside manner is not the best. Some people would say she is cold or disrespectful. However I argue she is more concerned about treating your condition. She went to school to treat illness and diseases and she does that well. That is the most important thing. I have heard many rumors or hearsay from former patients. These people have alleged that Dawn has violated HIPAA on multiple locations and Dawn has had poor bedside manners to the point of people being offended and feeling greatly disrespected. Dawn has admitted that she is imperfect.Shortly after I meet her I inquired about previous reviews I saw on Google. Dawn admitted that "I pissed some people off and they are no longer patients here". I can not confirm any of these rumors and frankly that is not any of my business. I just want my chronic medications treated. I know doctor's are not perfect, they are human. In summary a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes my fault, sometimes Aurora's, sometimes nobody's fault. They are not perfect and juggling lot of balls in the air. They will drop a ball from time to time but that is to be expected. Overall my experience has been average."
