"I was a loyal mcfee customer for the last 10 years. So loyal that I handed them a car and 6000 dollars. They assured me it was road worthy. However, within 3 days the check engine light came on. They said it was an O2 sensor that they hadn't touched. 3 weeks later, the shifter cable snapped (despite them working on the transmission and mentioning nothing wrong with it). They said they also wanted to replace the shifter. And they needed to order the part. We could pick up the car or leave it with them, but if we picked it up they were going to charge us 2 hours of labor to put the shifter in. So we let them keep it . A home fter ordering the wrong part TWICE, and two weeks later, we called one auto parts place and found the right one within an hour. Not only that, it was $200 more than they had quoted us over their phone. Then, a week later, I got a panicked phone call from the teenager using the car. The car was filling with smoke! Apparently one of the belts was rubbing up against the engine housing and almost caught on fire. We brought it to a different mechanic who fixed the belt, as well as the ball bearings and the O2 sensor that mcfee still had not fixed. Tl;dr I trusted the team for over 10 years, and when. I gave them a car that needed work with significant dollars. I trusted them to inspect the car and make sure the systems were working. Over $7,000 later we are still putting money into it and McPhee did not do what I originally had asked."
