"Great group of people; we have older Jeep did not seem to be a concern. Repair completed quickly. Enjoyed talking with customers and staff while waiting."
"When my dealer could no longer be trusted, I took my car to these guys. Maaaaannnn let me tell you, the service I received was absolutely amazing! They were able to not only get my car inspected and diagnosed my car correctly but the $$ compared to my dealership was 3x less. This place does amazing work you will not be disappointed."
"If I can’t fix it, no one will…#1 mechanic in Rhode Island if you can drive there fly there or tow there I can fix it all"
"This has been my go-to for all my personal vehicles. I've dealt with a lot of mechanics and it's very difficult to find people you can trust in this industry. The prices are always fair and the problem always gets fixed"
"WARNING!... I brought my 1961 antique car to Providence Auto Engineering because the steering was off. I spoke with Roger who is the owner, (very nice guy), who has antique cars himself so I felt comfortable with this place working on my antique. Roger had his son look at the car. His son told me that the previous garage who welded the steering box into place used thin metal that cracked and that he would reweld it with stronger metal to make it permanently secure. Although the steering box is easy to access right up in front I let him know that if it needs to go on a lift that it needs a drive on lift to not damage custom work I had done previously. The next day I went back to pick up the car. Roger's son told me that it was reweld with stronger steel and that,...["it should hold for a while"]...q He previously told me he would weld it with stronger steel to make it permanently secure. Now he is saying, "it should hold for a while". He gave no reason for this but he did give me a bill for $1,600.... I asked him why $1,600 when there is only less than $40 of steel used. He said he spent time putting the car up on a non drive on lift. He said he gets $90 an hour. That means he spent 16 hours putting the car on the lift and to reweld a steering box bracket????? $1,600!!... really??? and after $1,600 he said, " it should hold for a while"... I brought the car to two reputable automotive welders who both told me I was robbed! They said it looks like the steering box was never removed but just rewelded and that the weld job itself is not a good solid weld, that it will absolutely fail and is dangerous to drive!... I called Providence Automotive Engineering to address this to the son. He hung up on me! I was told by the two reputable welders who saw this job to take Providence Automotive Engineering to small claims court with photos of the shardy welding job. I was told that this place used to be a good shop years ago but lost their best help and may be closing shop in the near future. I will soon be speaking with an attorney on this matter to sue for double damages. I will do a follow-up review with the results."
