"I have only good things to say about Shortridge Academy. This was our son's 3rd school in 3 years. He was experiencing some significant challenges academically and was looking for a school that was the right fit.. The individual attention the professionals and staff provided helped both him - and our family during a difficult time. They were there for him on an academic level - and a personal level regardless of the day of the week or hour of the day. He grew as a student and as a person while there and has subsequently done very well. We appreciated the structured environment, progressive opportunities for growth and the constant communication from the academic and health professionals working with him. We were very lucky to find Shortridge when we did."
"My son went to Shortridge after 9 weeks in wilderness therapy. My husband and I immediately liked the way we felt at SA that first day we visited on our journey to select a school. It was the right fit for our family ( a 5 hour drive, wooded, coed, good accommodations, smart caring staff, impressive educational and therapeutic program) and our son graduated 10 months later. SA kept us informed and supported us the entire 10 months. The teachers and therapists were great with the kids and surprisingly effective. SA helped us with home contracts and guidance welcoming our son back into our family. I keep in touch with one therapist on our son's progress to this day. She has helped us navigate difficult times since he left SR. Looking back i think we were very lucky to find Shortridge. And our son is still in touch with a number of boys from SA."
"I have known Adam for 30 years. The team and approach with students at Shortridge represents his care for helping kids. Shortridge is a high quality option providing the same academic accreditation as top NE boarding schools and colleges (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), licensed therapists to help students address anxiety, depression, and family issues. with a semester minimum length of stay. As CEO of Paradigm Treatment, we have and will continue to educate our families about this great option once they finish our 30-60 day mental health residential program."
"Our son has thrived at Shortridge Academy. He started his journey with Wilderness, then into an RTC, a short stop at home for two months, ending with a lengthy stay at Shortridge. The staff are caring and skilled at helping adolescents internalize lasting change. The campus is beautiful and the class work is demanding. But most importantly, the school helped focus our son to be emotionally ready for life, with a strong focus on building confidence and self esteem. Shortridge is very special, in large part because the owner / operator himself, lived through his own hard fought journey of wilderness and therapeutic schooling, so he connects with the students as “one of us.” Thank you Shortridge!! You have been an invaluable resource to our family!!!"
"Our son spent his senior year at Shortridge Academy. It was a remarkable experience. Shortridge helped him to achieve academically, regain confidence, and work on the issues that had held him back in high school. We are so impressed with the therapeutic staff who are on top of all the roadblocks that high school students face and give great support to parents. the academic staff also supported him in his college application process which was so helpful. The teaching staff connected with him and helped him pursue his interests in independent study. There is plenty of opportunity for recreation and outdoor activities like surfing and skiing, as well as hiking and mountain biking. students are given opportunities for leadership and involvement in decision making and creating community. most important, he made great friends that still support each other after graduation. I hope you consider this remarkable school for your child."
