"The campground was nice and it is convenient to Portland. The booking process online doesn't allow you to choose your own campsite. I called and since the person answering the phone was busy, she asked me to call back. When I called back to make the reservation I was told they pick the sites. I gave her a very detailed, very specific type of site we'd like. When we got there, the site was exactly what I said we didn't want and there were open sites that were what we asked for. They need to be more aware of customer's requests and at least try to accommodate them."
"Imagine driving for 6 hours towing a camper trailer through all kinds of traffic and speeds. You finally arrive at your camping destination and are giddy! After check-in you start to drive to your site only to be stopped by a little wormy guy in a golf cart yelling at you to slow down and adhere to the 5mph speed limit. You start to mildly protest and are told very sternly that there is no negotiating! He couldn't tell me how fast I was going though. I will add there were speed bumps every 10 yards or so. With the speed bumps how fast could I have been going? Maybe 8 mph? The guys mowing the grass were going faster on the zero turn mowers. Anyway they run a tight ship here - very clean, quiet, secure. The rude start was the only complaint. Be sure to drive slowly when entering."
"A beautiful, quiet, clean campground. We got scheduled to work in Maine at the last minute during the height of tourist season. I literally called every campground in the area looking for a spot for our 5th wheel with nothing available. The good folks at Wassamki went above and beyond rearranging the summer schedule to make a spot for us. We will be forever grateful. Friendly, helpful staff and everything we could possibly need here. A short drive to anything whether shopping, parks or other touristy attractions. This will be our go-to spot if we ever have opportunity to come to the Portland are again."
"Nice campground. The planes flying overhead did not bother us as we run fans in our camper. Be sure to ask for a shaded lot. We are an older couple so the activities did not really interest us. However, was disappointed that there was not a place on that huge lake that would allow for dogs to swim. The only true complaint would be the laundry facilities. They have five washing machines, but only two were working. and those two stayed busy all day."
