Reviews
"Updating this review after a recent positive experience with MEE's patient relations department. After investigating my concerns, they agreed their branch could have handled my case better at the beginning, and waived the balance due. It took at lot of trouble, but I'm happy with the result so changed the rating to 3 stars. Better if they could be more responsive to patients in the first place! Original review: I was referred by my PCP for a simple hearing test. First ME&E cancelled an appointment. When I finally went for an appointment in June 2022, I was told the person who did tests wasn't in that day, but I needed to be examined by a doctor first. I filled out a form, then saw a physician (Amanda Dilger) for perhaps 15 minutes. This so-called "exam" resulted in a billing (via Mass General Brigham) for $460, with the claim denied by Medicare as "routine care." At my request, MGB tried several times to have ME&E review and reduce the billing. ME&E never responded except to return it with the notation "billing correct." I also called the practice directly and left messages; my calls were never returned. With no other recourse to prevent the billing from going to collections and damaging my credit, I finally signed up for a payment plan with MGB. But I bitterly resent being forced by ME&E to pay for services I did not want or need. Patients beware!"
