"Not a single positive experience here so far - neither in person nor by phone. I was looking for a new primary care provider after moving to the area; I had been with my previous PCP at Southboro Medical for almost 15 years but the distance for Dr. Appointments became too much. From the first appointment, the experience was not positive. While the nurse practitioner I met with had a sunny disposition and positive attitude, she talked a mile a minute, almost frantic to prove her experience, yet she did very little listening to my medical concerns and quickly dismissed two important aspects of my health management that I have had for years and were in my file. I tried to explain why my health concerns were important to address first and foremost, however when she kept trying to change the subject, I said I would leave that very moment if she did not acknowledge what I was saying; I was not expecting her to be an expert, but I did expect her to listen, ask questions, and offer some sort recommendation for a forward path to assess my needs. In summary, we spent the first 10 minutes of my 20 minute appointment arguing because as a first-time patient, my concerns were not being listened to. Fast-forward four months; yesterday I call the Winthrop Neighborhood Health phone number that shows up on google; they answer "Winthrop Neighborhood Health". I explained that I had an injury that needed to be looked at and requested the first available appointment, with my Primary care NP or someone else. They book me with someone else @ 8am the next day (today). I take time off work, show up to Winthrop Neighborhood Health, and voila - no appointment - because I was set up with someone out of the East Boston location and was never informed. Apparently, even though you call "Winthrop Neighborhood Health", it is a call center somewhere else. The courteous attendant at the front desk apologized and tried to set me up with an appointment later in the day but that was not going to work with my schedule. Another complete waste of time - and my medical need once again went unmet. Lastly - billing. If you have any questions whatsoever about billing, do not count on having those answered by this place. First, because billing is routed centrally when you call the phone number. Second, because they cannot transfer you to a number at this location. You have to show up in person, walk to the counter, and ask a question. In an age where everything and everyone in the world is connected and information is at our fingertips, the level of incompetence here is truly remarkable. I have electrical outlets in my house that I bought on Amazon that is smarter and better connected than this place. Recommendation: Find another PCP in Winthrop or go to East Boston Neighborhood Health Center instead, where I had expeditious, attentive treatment at Urgent Care by Dr. Naresh and the cost was straight forward and very reasonable (I do have BSBC HMO insurance). Avoid Winthrop Neighborhood Health until they go out of business and someone else takes their place. Sure, the building is new and the inside looks nice but that's about it."
"who ever handles phone calls and customers over the phone should get some training on how to handle issues in a better manner, it's a hospital not a correctional facility , as a medical field student we had to take sociology, psychology, patient care classes just to have a high level of dealing with ill people. and good luck getting an appointment at this hospital as they always tell you that the next available appointment is eight months from now. may your soul rest in peace by then."
"I have always had friendly, prompt service here, in fact after my first 2 meetings, with 2 different providers, I switched my whole family to this practice. It's better to get an early appointment as they tend to get a little backed up later in the day but everyone from the front desk through the intake staff to the physicians have been nothing but kind and understanding (even with my 4 year old scream/crying through her shots)."
"They are fine if you only need a yearly checkup. If you have any concerns about your health or want a full physical do not go here. When I took my kids there for their yearly physical they didn’t even have the flu vaccine in stock."
"I was treated very kindly from the minute I walked in. I understand some people's complaints that doctor's have little time to exam you, that is trus. However I feel that nowadays with the help of technology the provider knows so much about me before coming into the room that he may not need to spend so much time. I had all my questions answered and left satisfied. Thanks for your service"
