Riverbend Park Cambridge, MA 02139
About the Business
Riverbend Park, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a peaceful oasis along the historic Charles River. Over 40 years ago, Isabella Halsted had the vision to close Memorial Drive on Sundays, creating a serene place for people to enjoy the beauty of the river. Today, visitors from near and far continue to appreciate the closure of Memorial Drive on weekends from April to November.
The People for Riverbend Park Trust, founded by Isabella Halsted in 1975, works tirelessly to maintain and beautify the park. Volunteers, including students from the nearby Shady Hill School, plant flowers and shrubs throughout the park, with a special focus on the Sekler playlot. The Trust, headed by Pat Sekler, relies solely on donations and volunteer support.
If you're interested in helping to maintain Riverbend Park, the Trust welcomes new volunteers to join their efforts. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and go towards purchasing plants and maintaining the park. To support the People for Riverbend Park Trust, you can donate online or send a check to their address on Gibson Street in Cambridge. Come and experience the tranquility of Riverbend Park and help preserve this beautiful green space for future generations to enjoy.

Reviews
"This is an awesome grassy area right on the Charles River that is very cute and super popular. Lots of Harvard student come and hang out by the water on nice days and have a picnic or hang out in a group. People by themselves also come to read a book, lay out and tan, sit on a bench, or leisurely walk by. It can be really peaceful and nice to be by the water. There is a nice pathway parallel to the street and tons of people run and bike on it. This park has a foot bridge that crosses over to the Boston side, and can be really nice to walk over."
"Great place for a walk or run along the river. Or simply to sit down and enjoy the sun."

"Nice place for walking around. Stress will be go away.."
