Charles E. Rand Memorial Forest
About the Business
The Charles E. Rand Memorial Forest, located at 3 North Road in North Hampton, New Hampshire, is a park dedicated to saving, sharing, and stewarding the lands we love. Partnering with Trust for Public Land, SELT, the Towns of Newfields and Exeter, trail user groups, and residents, this institution is working to protect a threatened private landscape and expand existing town forests by 33%. With the purchase of 101 acres in Newfields and 47 acres in Exeter, public access will be vastly improved with a new parking area and trailhead.
For lovers of Merrymeeting Lake, the cleanest lake in New Hampshire, the opportunity to help permanently conserve the 379-acre Mount Bet is available. With stunning views, critical water protection, and valuable wildlife habitat, Mount Bet has it all. Additionally, protecting local character, preserving wildlife habitat, providing new trails to explore, and helping to protect over 140 acres of beautiful forestland and precious green space in Atkinson are all part of the mission of the Charles E. Rand Memorial Forest.
Introducing the Trail Tip Jar for those who want to support efforts in caring for the lands they love, visitors can leave a virtual tip to help with conservation efforts. With countless stories to tell of farms saved, watersheds protected, wildlife habitats preserved, and more, visitors can browse the SELT Story archive to learn about the power of collective efforts to save, share, and steward the lands we all love.

"A very small but pleasant walk for the pups or yourself. Is in the middle of knowwhere. Great if passing through the area and want to stretch your legs."
"You WILL get lost. The kiosk sign deceptively shows a simple trail system with a red and a blue loop, but in fact there are at least a dozen unmarked forks, and the many trails meander in all directions with no signage at all. If we didn't have a GPS and mapping app we would still be out there. Reviewer Tricia Brown referenced “well-marked trails”; I don’t know where she was, but it wasn’t here. The trails are indeed nice, but be prepared to do your own navigation or you’ll end up spending the night."
"Lovely hike, and very accessable...wide trail, clean, and short enough that you can walk it with only setting aside an hour or so."
"This is a peaceful forest not loaded with people which I enjoy very much. Although It was disheartening to go in for a beatiful walk amongst nature to come upon 2 deceased deer legs hanging out of the trees like some creepy "Blair Witch " scene. We did continue through 2 trails which were very easy and even came upon an orange and black slender snake and a beautiful latge Pileated woodpecker and the sounds of all the different birds brought me back to peace and harmony. There is really no pretty water scapes though just a simple walk through a simple forest."
"Quiet, peaceful woods that allow dogs off leash. Hunting is permitted so bring your blaze orange."
