"This is a nice recreation area. I went here while visiting Cape Cod and was satisfied with this experience. I visited the large lift bridge near the Buzzards Bay train station. This bridge is quite large and was built so trains could pass over a river without impeding ship traffic. Next to the bridge is a nice, small park with some informational signs about the bridge. One unique thing about the bridge is that the operating rooms on top of it to raise or lower the bridge have pointed roofs that make them look like small castles. I gave this recreation area five stars because they have a very nice lifting railway bridge and riverside park next to it."
"Great spot for a long walk. Lovely Views. There are plenty of rest areas. Great for walking, biking, and rolerskates. Great for dog walking. There are plenty of activities during the summer period."
"The recreation area has plenty of offering - be it running, walking, skating, walking the dog, biking of fishing. We went for a bike ride and it was super fun. Started early on a Sunday so it was not crowded at early. Along the trail, I saw plenty of folks fishing. Looks like a super hot spot for fishing too. I saw a couple of playgrounds for kids as well. So, all in all, I feel this is a great spot to bring your kids and pets and relax doing whatever you love doing. Btw, don't forget to spend time at the Scusset beach. The view from there is simply majestic."
"It's a beautiful place to just sit by the water and watch the boats go by."
"The Cape Cod Canal, 17.5 miles (28 km) long, cuts across the base of the peninsula, separating it from the mainland; it shortens the shipping distance between New York City and Boston by more than 75 miles (120 km). It’s a nice walking and biking trail along the canal. Enough parking and good happy people all around. Good spot for a leisure family outing or picnic. Many picnic tables, restrooms and nearby camping areas. We started from the rail road bridge and it was nice to learn about the bridge architectural design. Did I mention about the kids play area? Yeah that’s a good place. Still closed due to pandemic. Kids missed that. However Rickie J. Teller recreation area after a mile of walk near the bridge was a consolation. It offered had jumping pillows, mini golf etc. Take a look at The fisherman’s statue - local fishing legend Stan Gibbs. Update - 5/28/2022 - Returned back next year with my 7yo son who enjoyed biking. We had a small picnic and then went for route 6a scenic drive. Also, learnt a little about the canal while we visited the nearby city's Sandwich glass museum."
