Doane's Falls / Tully Lake Trailhead Royalston, MA 01368
About the Business
Doane's Falls / Tully Lake Trailhead, located in Royalston, Massachusetts, is a park that offers a stunning natural experience. Descend a short stream-side trail and witness the raucous series of plunging falls at Doane's Falls on Lawrence Brook, as it tumbles from under a picturesque stone bridge to Tully Lake. The reservation is named after Amos Doane, who once owned land in the area and built a mill above the falls in the early 19th century. The riverbank is a sensitive ecosystem, so please stay on marked trails to protect the plants and soil.
Swimming, diving, and wading are prohibited at this location due to safety concerns. A half-mile trail along the stream provides great vantage points to enjoy the rushing water and scenic views. Nearby Coddings Meadow offers a quiet clearing for relaxation and serves as a launch site for canoeists and kayakers exploring the river.
The Trustees manages the Tully Lake Campground nearby. Access to the park is easy from Rt. 2, with parking available. Trails lead to the falls, meadow, and other points of interest. Hunting is permitted on the Coddings Meadow parcel, but please follow all state and town laws.
The Trustees Hiking Challenge encourages visitors to explore the many trails and natural features of the area. Remember to stay safe and respect the environment during your visit. Enjoy the beauty of Doane's Falls and the surrounding landscape in this peaceful corner of Massachusetts.

"Great place if you go down towards lake it has handicap entrance to get up close to falls I feel that is awesome but rest of trails are a moderate exercise for sure loved it"
"Beautiful, well marked trail system with views around every turn! Recommend doing the Tully Lake Loop counter clockwise, Doane's Falls towards the end of the hike is spectacular!"
"It's not just peaceful here, it's absolutely beautiful here! Can't wait to go for a walk down some of the trails here. There is a campground near by for a small get away at a reasonable price and the few times I have fished here... Caught a few pickerall and quite a few decent size large mouth bass."
"Love coming to Doane’s Falls. I can remember coming here and being able to jump from the top of this fall right into the pool of water below. Fabulous place to stroll with family!"
