"Only saw one other person. Winter is my favorite season to visit."
"The structure is about a quarter. Mile off the parking lot along the ocean and also has a walk path That will allow you to walk along the ocean."
"Nice ocean side trail. Crowded on weekends. Yet, the path itself not seeing the ocean most of the time because of high bushes. It would be just perfect if you could directly see the ocean on the main trail."
"I went specifically for the "ruins" and was somewhat disappointed. Not much left to see and what's there is very overgrown and lost its historic energy and vibe. Still got some nice pictures. Can't speak for the actual hiking trail but the area and beach were absolutely beautiful. The town gives off retirement village and there's NO street parking to be had. Beautiful but don't come JUST for the ruins."
"Really amazing hiking spot along the Narragansett coast with broad, well-kept trails. Wandered up here from Scarborough Beach on a busy Saturday, and got some respite from the crowds, as I only saw a few other people and their dogs on the trails themselves. It’s certainly unlike most other hiking spots in the state, as there are barely any trees. Instead, there are three main sections: an inland path, a path along the coast line, and, at low tide, the rocks on the coast isn’t self. The inland path goes through some tall grass, and walking down it surprised me with the amount of beautiful birds I saw. Many dragonflies as well, and I even saw a small chipmunk or field mouse scurry across the trail. While it is nice, this is definitely the least impressive part of the trail system. The trail along the coast offers some really amazing views, and there are plenty of cut offs that allow you to get right on the edge of cliffs in some areas, and to climb down onto the rocks at low tide in others. If you’re coming to take pictures, this is the part you’re gonna want to be at. My favorite part of this place, though, are the rocks right along the coast. There are so many amazing tide pools here that are littered with life. Some of the bigger ones have schools of small fish, but all have tons of shrimp, crabs, snails, mussels, and tons of other creatures I couldn’t identify. The longer you look, the more you see. Unfortunately, some of the smaller pools had some dead fish in them, some of them pretty big. I assume it was from a lack of oxygen/heat, but some of the other ones I saw were filled with a gross looking algae so I’m not sure if pollution is an issue as well. Regardless of that, most of the tide pools were definitely supporting tons of life, and this is easily my favorite part of the trail system and Scarborough Beach. There’s a small parking lot that I’m sure fills up quickly, but the trails are also easily accessible from the beach. Whether you’re here to hike, snap some photos, relax and listen to the waves, or see some amazing nature, this will be one of your favorite spots in the state."
