"This is a fascinating piece of history. Hidden in a small street off the Eisenhower park and operated by passionate and highly knowledgeable volunteers who graciously give their time to do tours, this museum contains a ton of incredible pieces that range from the revolutionary war era to modern. How they pack so much history in a rather small room relies on the library of knowledge that these amazing staffers have, not to mention this is entirely free to visit. Some of the highlights include four bronze cannons cast by Paul Revere, Prince Phillip’s uniform, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s last remaining uniform, and an Appeal to Heaven flag. Easily walkable from the most popular spots in Newport, this should be a must visit for anyone with even a passing interest in military history. I am not the best history student and I had a blast. My bother and father are lovers of all thing history and they were in heaven with our guide who I wish I could name (Wonderful gentleman with a great beard and a cool tattoo) because he deserves all the kuddos for our tour. The museum is Open in the Summer Season and in the fall and winter is open by appointment."

"This is a true RI gem. They have items from almost every US war going back to the Revolutionary War through Vietnam. Lots of favorites but, if I had to pick one, it would be the horse's hoof with the shoe still intact from Custer's Last Stand. The uniforms from Nimitz, Eisenhower, Montgomery, Hussein (of Jordan), Sadat and Prince Philip when he was a mere LCDR were fascinating to see. I'm sure I've forgotten some. You have to go if you are a military history buff."

"I went by one Sunday and was given the tour by one of the members. It is a really cool museum. Luckily, the guides are really good at hitting the highlights, or you could get lost in there for hours. There are lots of really cool military artifacts. The members are working diligently to label and research many of the items thats history has been lost to time. Our friends at Wikipedia had the following to say: The company's stone and brick armory building, located at 23 Clarke Street in Newport, was constructed in 1835 in the Greek Revival style. The work was overseen by master stonemason Alexander McGregor. The armory houses a museum that features an extensive collection of military uniforms from over 50 different nations. The museum also features the uniforms of prominent individuals such as Medal of Honor recipient General David M. Shoup, General Colin Powell, General Creighton Abrams, General William Westmoreland, Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Admiral Cameron Winslow, Colonel Katherine Amelia Towle, President Anwar Sadat of Egypt, Admiral of the Fleet Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, HM King Hussein of Jordan, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. The museum also contains several artillery pieces, including four bronze cannons cast for the state of Rhode Island by Paul Revere in 1798. The Newport Artillery's armory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972."

"We happened to be walking by and we’re invited inside to have a look around. Everyone was so kind! Our tour guide was extremely passionate and informational and made it extremely fun!
