"I’ve had tooth trouble since I was very young… 10 or 11 years old. After getting hit in the mouth with an aluminum hockey stick and shattering my mouth. Since this time in life I’ve had abysses, removals, implants, and a world of anxiety surrounding my teeth. Every single professional out there jabs you with needles, man handles your face, and is more concerned about being quick than they are your comfort. In advance of seeing Dr. Gager for my most recent bacteria problem (same tooth for almost 3 decades) he explained that his approach to making a patient numb was different than most professionals in his world because it took longer. I told him about the anxiety surrounding any procedure for my teeth and he was able to explain what was happening and how we would approach it. My immediate reaction was “sure, okay.” And low and behold he was slow and methodical about it. Rather than just stab the roof of your mouth numerous times he worked with smaller gum shots and worked around and back. We are talking about getting needles shoved into the tissue of your mouth…. It’s not great… but he nailed it. Just the way he approached the numbing brought the anxiety of the entire procedure down. From there he did what he told me he would. It was comfortable. Easy. And much appreciated. The healing was stupid and painful but that has nothing to do with him, lol. I think it’s unfair that he isn’t getting the recognition he deserves. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I don’t believe it was perfect. It was a million times better than most in his “industry” and deserves the recognition."
