Prospect Mountain Ski Area is a popular tourist attraction located at 204 Prospect Access Road in Woodford, Vermont, United States. Established in 2018, the Prospect Mountain Association (PMA) is a community nonprofit organization dedicated to purchasing, protecting, and operating Prospect Mountain as a Nordic recreational center. The purpose of the association is to promote community health and wellbeing by providing groomed cross-country ski trails, snowshoe trails, and programs for a diverse population in Southern Vermont, Western Massachusetts, and Eastern New York.

The ski area has a rich history, with notable figures like Bucky Broomhall, who was instrumental in transforming the Mt. Anthony Union High School Nordic teams into state champions in the late 60s and early 70s. Bucky also founded the Bill Koch Youth Ski league and volunteered his waxing abilities to help BKL kids at the annual festival. Along with Steve Whitham, Bucky designed and constructed the first Nordic trails at Prospect in 1982.
Prospect Mountain Ski Area provides live trail camera footage and weather updates for visitors to stay informed about trail conditions. The ski area also has its own weather station, offering detailed information on wind speed, barometric pressure, and more. As an equal opportunity provider, Prospect Mountain operates under a special use permit with the Green Mountain National Forest.

"Tons of trails, many different ski options, and good food."
"What a find! Wonderful groomed XC trails. Great views from the top. Plus the most cozy, old-time New England lodge. Complete with wood stove and clothes pins to dry/warm your mittens. The classic wood skis on the walls remind us of skiing as it used to be. Prospect Mountain had fully skiable trails when other areas didn't because it's at a higher elevation. We'll be back!"
"This was our first family ski trip in many years. We used to go downhill skiing but the cost has gotten ridiculous (nearby Mt. Snow would have cost us 1k for two days of skiing with rentals, lesson, and lift tickets). Not only was the price much more reasonable at Prospect but we had the added bonus of not having to avoid out of control beginner snow boarders on every run. A huge perk for sure! The staff were courteous and helpful. They do not have lockers but the owner offered to keep my wife's purse safe behind the counter while we went skiing. The resort has a small town vibe and even the folks skiing there were friendly. Lots of smiles, waves, and even a few people stopped to cheer on our five year old son as he tucked into a racing stance for a run down the hill. Sunday there was a race going on and the parking lot was probably half full. However, the runs never felt crowded probably due to the amount of terrain available, which really helped spread everyone out. The pesto in the lodge is delicious and they even had veggie and black bean burgers, which was great because I am vegan. The serving sizes were a little small though, or maybe I was just famished from skiing for several hours... Despite the portions the food was good, no complaints there. After lunch save your scraps for the wild pheasant (ask the staff where you can find him/her) that likes to come out of the forest and prance around in exchange for food. We paid for a private couples lesson both days and our instructor Jenn was top notch. I used to be an assistant ski instructor (adaptive programs) and her ability to communicate clearly and effectively while being very encouraging soon had my wife skiing comfortably on the green runs and helped me dial in my skate technique (on classic skis no less too)! We had a blast at Prospect and will certainly be coming back throughout the season."
"What a fantastic experience! The day we went was right after a snow, and the trails were absolutely beautiful. We took our five year old on her first ski, and she loved it. Staff was very helpful, and the rates were great (5 and under free)! The lodge was old fashioned, but warm and friendly, with good prices for food and drink. Hope to come back again!"
"Some days I just want the trails to myself- they're that good. I love coming here. It feels like home, and the crew does a great job no matter what the conditions. Truly an amazing asset to have here in Southern VT. (PS: Get the chili in a bread bowl. If you are GF- I'm sorry!). My cousin also held her wedding here a few falls ago, and Prospect in the fall is beautiful, and provided a great country setting for our family and the kids to run around. Thank you!"
