"So I try to give the small guy my business. I hate supporting the big box stores. With that said I went into Rocky’s Ace hardware to get a bag of pet friendly ice melt and was very disappointed. I have been thinking about getting a snow scoop this year and saw some for sale in Rocky’s entry way but no price was marked on them. Then I saw some Carhart clothing but again no price tags. I grabbed a bag of the ice melt which I could have sworn was marked $16 and headed to the register. In front of the register was some power washers that could come in handy next spring but again no price marked. I absolutely refuse to purchase an item from any store if they can not put a price on it and I’m not spending my time and energy to tract or chase down an employee to ask what the price is while they then have to check with several other people to tell me the price because someone couldn’t price the item to begin with. At the front counter the cashier was somewhat friendly but it seemed sort of a struggle for her to be friendly. She rang up the ice melt and it was not $16 but instead $28.47 out the door. Again I try to support the local smaller business and understand that their prices will be higher but really $28 for a 20lb bag seems a little steep. Any how I tried but I will not be going back and I must say that if the small business doesn’t even want to try to compete with the big box stores then just close your doors and give up which is what I suggest Rocky’s do."

"This is the best hardware store in all of midcoast Maine . This place has a hometown feel while being as large as a big box chain and Carries and services everything you need. Craig the assistant manager is always putting on fun promotional community events and knows all the locals . Super friendly and located conveniently in bath."
