Reviews
"I came in with high expectations due to the high reviews but walked out disappointed. I ordered the wonton soup (with extra spice), and my friends ordered the soup dumplings, wonton soup (no spice), and veggie yellow pea noodles. The restaurant service was fast & kind, and the place was clean. The price is average, not the cheapest price for the portions. I DO NOT recommend wonton soup. The noodles and wontons were over cooked, and the broth was flavorless. However, the soup dumplings were good. I gave this place three stars instead of two because my friends said they enjoyed their food except that it was a bit flavorless. I definitely chose the wrong menu item."
"The whole place is fantastic! The tables/chairs are modern and the plates and cups are very nice and high quality. Not only that, but the food was authentic, flavorful, and fresh. The soup dumplings were incredible, better than the ones I have in Chinatown. Easy ordering by QR code on each table and you can order as a group which is nice! Fast service too"
"Great spot for Chinese noodles and dumplings in Allston. Recently came here for a weekday lunch and was surprised to find the place with a bustling crowd. With a mobile ordering system accessible via barcode, customizing my dish down to the spice level and sauce quantity was a breeze. Starting with appetizers, I tried the Sliced Beef and Ox Tongue in Chili Sauce and the Sichuan Spicy Wontons. Both dishes had their merits, but the wontons edged out slightly for me. Enveloped in a delicate skin, the pork filling was complemented exquisitely by the green pepper oil, adding just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the palate. I also tried their signature Chongqing Noodles with Minced Pork. As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy the numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns, I appreciated the ability to tailor the dish to a milder spice level. The noodles were cooked to perfection, boasting an ideal chewy texture. However, the dish was a tad on the salty side, which slightly eclipsed the otherwise well-seasoned minced pork. Overall, Boston Soup Dumplings offers an authentic and customizable Sichuan food experience. Despite some minor flaws, it's worth a try, especially for lovers of spicy, complex flavors."
"Felt adventurous and ordered dishes I was not familiar with like Chongqing Noodle, Sichuan Spicy Wontons and Wuhan Noodle with Sesame Paste. Chongqing noodle was flavorful and meaty. The wontons were juicy and not overly spicy or salty. I added vinegar to them and they were delicious 10/10 recommend. The Wuhan noodle was thick with a texture to it, and it complimented well with the sesame sauce. I wish it had meats to it though. You can adjust the spiciness and numbness to your noodles and dumplings to your liking. Sometimes I have craving thinking about the noodle, would go back again. You should give it a try."
"Soup dumplings had a pleasant meat flavor, but there wasn't much soup in them. My partner also said the wrapper was enjoyable. The pork noodle soups were tasty. Pork Trotter one was a bit salty but flavorful. Spare Ribs one was mainly chili oil and not exactly a noodle soup. The staff was very accommodating with our allergies, although some Mandarin proficiency is recommended. Tables are a bit small and the menu is a web platform with same-table-group-ordering built in (Chowbus?)."
