The Red Onion

"My family has been coming to Rangeley for 25+ years and we always make it a point to visit Red Onion several times during our vacations. This is a warm, local restaurant. It’s especially wonderful during ski season when you want a hot bowl of their famous chili. You can’t go wrong here."

"We came here to try it out, since the last time I was here was when I was young. I didn’t really remember what it tasted like. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and my partner ordered the Mediterranean pizza. The chicken was great, and they offered to add Italian sausage for $4.00, so I did. This is where they lose a star, because for $4.00, I was expecting dinner sausage. They gave me little pizza sausage mixed in with the pasta and sauce. It was pretty good, just not the good quality dinner sausage I was expecting for $4.00. Hopefully they can fix this in the future. I did try my partners pizza, and the pizza was good, I just wish they offered a doughy crust pizza. I’m not a fan of thin crust. The restaurant was very clean and plenty of tables were available. The bathroom was pretty clean as well. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in town."

"The owners are so kind and the food is high quality, the kitchen is clean and well maintained. I have never had a negative experience, only positive experiences it will be back before they close. Rangeley will sorely miss this staple!"

"Great location, but pizza at The Red Onion is disappointing. Our crust was underbaked (even doughy under the toppings) and generally uninspiring. The toppings were fine. It will do in a pinch if you need pizza, but there are better options."
