"This place was greater than the sum of its parts. The food was ok. The chicken parm portion was large, but the pasta had clearly been sitting in a big pot of water for a long time. Service was good. All around a great meal after a long day of hiking."

"I visited Millinocket from Boston as part of my first trip to the interior of Maine; I know the coast quite well. I chose this restaurant because others where I stayed mentioned it, so I walked the quarter mile. I found a lively place with a varied group of diners, a mix of locals and travelers. I debated between the haddock sandwich and the taco salad. Feeling I needed some greens I opted for the latter. It did not disappoint. The salad was very good, an interesting blend of flavors, and the service too was very good. I highly recommend it."

"Oct. 9, 2021 - Ever heard the story “ Little Engine That Could”? The Scootic In & Millinocket reminds me of that train engine working hard to climb that hill . . . After hiking around Baxter Park with my wife and Nikon camera on a perfect autumn day, we stopped in around 5:30 pm at the Scootic In . A very polite hostess told us of the “ wait”. . . after reading the large Covid sign on the door we accept that most restaurants in Maine are in short supply of employees, so the owners asked for your patience. I purchased drinks at the bar, and we looked over the menu while waiting for our table. Amber, our server, guided us to our table after 20 minutes. The dining room & bar were packed. . . So we ordered our appetizer & dinner all at once, with our wait about another 15 minutes! All was good! There’s about 7 salad choices, we enjoyed the Greek Salad first! Menu choices included seafood, burgers, sandwiches, pub appetizers, steaks & chicken . . . we ordered the 14 inch homemade pizza ( pepperoni, extra cheese, and onions on half )! After another 10 minutes our delicious looking pizza arrived. Very satisfying pizza too! Thank you for a good meal! We’d come back ! * Fun Facts about Scootic In Restaurant * +Owners John Sr. & Fannie opened in 1901 +Current owners are George Simon & Bea +Now 5 generations of family members +Law Office in building +McLean’s Red & White General Store +Hikels Sporting Goods +Barbershop in building +Pool Hall in building +Insurance Agency in building +Firestone Tires +Arcade in building +Shoemaker in basement +Boarding House on top level Millinocket History Pre 1800’s - Home of Abenaki Indians “Millinocket” . . . "I wasn't sure what to expect, because it seems to be the most happening place in Millinocket. We sat in the bar area which was clean and the noise level was medium. They didn't have a drink menu so I asked the waitress what she would suggest for a mixed drink. It was something with pineapple, orange juice, and Malibu? She gave us a paper menu, which makes sense with covid, however nobody in the place had a mask on. I went in to the restroom and was sad when there wasn't any soap, but the bathroom was incredibly clean. I got back to my seat and finally tried my drink which was actually quite good. We ordered sweet chili wings and calzones. They both came to the table very fast. The wings were phenomenal. Crunchy with the sweet chili sauce they rank at the top 5 on my wing list. The calzone was really good, I had the pepperoni, with mushrooms, green pepper, onion, and jalapeno. It was a good experience overall. I highly recommend those wings!"
