"Was surprised how good a night there for dinner at the bar ended up being. Bartender was on top of service right from go. Their house homemade breadsticks that us made from the pizza dough is exceptional, apps and dinner was delicious, and even little details down to the chocolate chips with espresso to cap off the night was perfect. Can't wait to go back again."
"Unfortunately, Tomasso, which used to be one of our favorite Metrowest, MA restaurants, has gone way down hill. The service was nearly nonexistent tonight, with no one even bothering to check on how our food was shortly after it being served. When we asked for desert menus the waiter never came back and we had to flag someone else down, and then when no one came by to take our desert order, we finally just decided to flag someone down and get the check. The fried goat cheese appetizer was terrific, and the salads were good. My wife’s entree, the broken lasagna was good but my chicken parmigiana with tagliatelle pasta was amateur through and through. The pasta was mushy, not al dente, and the sauce had too much pepper or chili powder in it—I always wonder what chefs are trying to hide when they hot spice foods that don’t require it — and the chicken was burnt to toughness around the edges. If all that wasn’t enough, it took way too long to get our entrees (and the place was fairly empty) and the bill had a $4.80 “service charge” (which worked out to be 3.5%) and there was no warning of it ahead of time nor was the waiter able to explain to us what it was for other than to say it is something the owner puts on. This was so disappointing since we came back after not being here for a few years since we moved away, and we were looking forward to enjoying the kind of quality food and service that was once a hallmark of this place. We won’t be back."
"This used to be a very good restaurant. House made pasta, big menu, real chef in charge. Now it off the shelf easy stuff , no specials, what the heck is their version of carbonara, weary staff, smelly restroom. To top it of, the owner has a hard to see line on your bill called Service Charge. This goes to him not the staff, and I bet 90% of diners don’t notice it on their bill Sneaky! Tired place, no fun. Hate to get tricked on the bill above all!"
"We were very disappointed with some of our dinners. I ordered the Veal Marsala. My veal was too salty, and totally dry. It had no Marsala sauce, and no Marsala flavor. The pasta had a bit of sauce, and all of the Marsala flavor was concentrated just in the mushrooms. It was as if they had cooked the veal separately and thrown it on the plate. My brother in law had a similar experience with the Chicken Marsala. My sister had a decent meal, except that her rice was ice cold (not room temperature), as if they took it out of the fridge and threw it on the plate. It took a very long time to get it reheated. The other 3 dinners were OK, with no complaints."
"Last evening my Wife and I finally gave Tomasso a shot and I'll never go back. My Wife ordered the Risotto and I decided on the Bolognese. Both dishes were viciously overly salted and I'm not sure why the kitchen isn't tasting the food before it is served. Whomever taught the line how to cook would be ashamed that they have resorted to such a low-level and unsafe standard. Our waiter was very nice but disappeared, much like my appetite after having my entree."
