Blue Hills Trailside Museum 1904 Canton Avenue, Milton, MA 02186
About the Business
Located at 1904 Canton Avenue in Milton, Massachusetts, the Blue Hills Trailside Museum is a unique institution that combines a natural history museum, park, and tourist attraction all in one. Operated in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, this museum features both indoor and outdoor exhibits of non-releasable native wildlife that would not survive in the wild.
One of the highlights of the museum is the recent addition of another otter, adding to the diverse array of wildlife on display. The museum first opened its doors in 1959 and has been managed by Mass Audubon since 1974. With over 300,000 visitors each year, the museum continues to evolve and educate the public about the importance of conservation and wildlife preservation.
As the interpretation center for the Blue Hills Reservation, the museum is owned by the state and managed by Mass Audubon. Visitors can enjoy a range of outdoor activities and programs, celebrating nature and getting involved in conservation efforts. Donations to Mass Audubon are tax-deductible, as they are a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and wildlife. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the wonders of nature at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.

Reviews
"Great museum. There were live animals throughout which was a surprise, however their enclosures looked quite clean and well kept. Lovely to learn about these lil critters. Definitely kid friendly, lots to look at and read."
"The trailside museum is at the foot of the hills next to the ski slope. We mostly went to see the animals. Most of the birds of prey were not in their enclosures because of avian flu. The otter, the foxes, the deer, and some others were still out."
"They have more animals now, it's literally a little zoo, they have so much stuff for what seems at first such a little place, it's incredible, it's also very cheap."
"Easy 20 Minute Hike to the Blue Hill Mountain Summit from the museum! No dogs are allowed in the Museum, but in the trail they are allowed. Kid friendly museum and hike. Cellphone signal throughout and lots gas stations nearby."
"Love this place, visited several times with my 2 children who enjoy this easy hike. We met there with 3 friends and their children a group of 12! It's just lovely and the view of Boston was the best of any day I've visited previously. The kids ranged in age from 5 to 14- they all enjoyed themselves! Bring snacks for a treat at the top!"
