Top of The Bay Restaurant

"I figured this place had good food, I read the reviews and wanted to try it out. Believe me when i tell you , those reviews could not be anymore wrong!!.. The food was horrible! We ordered clam casino, which is 6 small clams wihh ritz crackers and bacon on top. YUCK. Barely any flavor and the clams were not fresh, tasted sour and bad. In return The waiter had given us two two cups of chowder, one white, one red. Firstly they were both very eve made way to thick, no flavor once again just horrible! The red chowder tasted like marinara sauce, nothing else. The white chowder all you could taste was cream. Both were again not good. The appetizer was so bad that my boyfriend and I were sure we did not want to order entrees. They had taken the appetizer off of the bill, and we ended up paying jjust for our drinks, which the beer was warm and my mix drink had too much .very disappointed. Will not be going bsck!!!"

"Hi Traveling PeterO , as you know I like to tell my friends of good restaurant's when I travel. Recently went to RI, home had a dinner for 6 at this delicious restaurant by the bay! The view was nice the food was very good and the service was excellent! I would recommend a visit early afternoon as this place gets back usually a good sign the food is good! As always, ask if they have a veterans discount!"

"We came to Top of the Bay for a lunch, and overall, the experience was good. What was really top-notch were the people. Our waitress Lauren was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive, and really helped make the experience great. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. We started with stuffed mushrooms, which were tasty, but the stuffing was a bit too overpowering, and kind of hid the mushroom flavor. We then received our meals. I had the fish and chips, and the fish was excellent. It was cooked perfectly, and literally glistened. The fries were ok. They looked great, but we’re very bland. Ketchup solved that. One person ordered the fried bay scallops, and thought those were excellent. The lobster roll was also very good. The red chowder, which was very different was loved by some and not liked by others. The white chowder was not great. It was not very seasoned, other than pepper, which stood out. There were no potato chunks, and the clams were not very prevalent. And in one bite the rue was not mixed well, and I got a dry clump, which was not pleasant. The clam cakes were ok, but did not seem to really have any clams. Overall, nothing was bad, but only some items were very good, leading to a 4 star experience overall."
