Givey's Barber Shop

"I go to Givey's because I like the great layered cut Christine gives my long hair. But something outstanding I witnessed the last appointment I had- bears heralding. Givey's is at its new location, and a lady living with a disability, who had gone to Givey's for a haircut, was seated safely inside the shop. It was raining and the patron's power chair was parked outside and got very wet. Christine had accommodated her above and beyond what other shop owners might have. She assisted with a safe transfer from the power chair and made due without her usual mirror set-up to which she is accustomed. She fussed over sending the lady home, standing out in the rain, and dried her power chair off as best she could and got her patron all situated after the haircut. I'm a retired geriatric LPN, and I've witnessed every degree of respect for our seniors and those living with daily challenges, from overt disregard and disrespect to great honor. I can honestly say that Christine's appropriate responsiveness to this situation deserves a stellar review. I was moved in my heart with joy to watch how she rose to the occasion as a barber without professional PCA, CNA training, not deterred but instead making this haircut happen- knowing the senior couldn't wait one more day, who braved snow and sleet to make it to Givey's in a power chair! And the grace and honesty with which she responded to the offended lady who left the disgruntled review only serves to make Christine look all the better, in my book! She's a barber with a true servant's heart!"

"I asked for a medium skin fade and was given all one length on the sides. The right side was longer than the left and the hard part was uneven. The back of my neck was left fuzzy. (The person ahead of me got a nice fade, not sure why I couldn't have one.) It looked like an odd buzz cut. The barber was also very heavy handed and rough. To top it all off I was berated for not having/wanting children. It was an unpleasant experience. Definitely not my number 1 choice for barbers in Jaffrey."

"Christine has been cutting my hair for over two years now. She is a fantastic barber and the passion she has for her work shows in both her work and her amazing shop set in a beautiful old mill building. A comfortable seating area with plenty of room to stretch out and flip through the magazines, watch the big screen television, or chat with the fellows who come from all over to receive their cuts. Step up to the chair and she is quick and precise finishing with a hot lather trim of the back of your neck with a straight razor. You'll look so good, you'll make time for her even on your wedding day (I did! Thanks Christine!). Then the warm towel... Haircuts are completely reasonably priced leaving painless room for the tip she deserves time and time again. If you're new to the area, as I was, and need a local legend to make you look fresh then look no farther than Givey's Barber Shop."
