Scituate Oceanside Rentals

"I have NEVER submitted a bad review but feel compelled in this case so others rent with eyes open. We rented the Lions Den that sleeps 22/24 people (Depends on the add you respond to) for the beginning of November for my son's wedding. The house is nice, it is big, has great views but I would NEVER rent from this guy again. We rented the house about a year before the wedding and paid a significant amount of money for 3 nights, in fact, had we waited till closer to the event, we would have saved a bundle according to what we saw online. The house is advertised with 2 hot tubs but both were drained. When we got there, the heat in the house was off and the interior was 43 degrees. It was not until well into the next day that we could get the interior temp to 68 degrees in all but the top floor where it seemed the heat did not work. Once you pay your deposit, the owner is impossible to reach. As noted by another reviewer, there is someone that lives in an accessory building (shed) in the backyard who yelled at guests about parking. Despite all of this, I never questioned the price or haggle on what we agreed to pay because the most important thing was for my son and daughter in law to have a wonderful weekend. We did have a full house with 22 individuals staying at the house and despite our request that they car pool, most drove themselves and the owner did provide some additional off street parking at his other properties that were vacant. What REALLY pushed me to write this review was that after I chased the owner for the return of the $1,000 security deposit, he returned $800. When asked why he deducted $200, I was told "you overloaded the home which triggered the excess utility charge" which I questioned but never heard back. Bear in mind that MA law does not govern security deposits for short term rentals so I suppose we were lucky to get any of the security deposit back. Honestly, had I received the full deposit back, I would have not have even submitted a review and left it alone, but the house was $6,633 for three nights despite it being the off-season and without advertised amenities or even telling us ahead of time that the hot tubs were drained so taking $200 on top was just WRONG."

"Had the best experience for our 55th high school reunion in 2018. The Lion's Den was great, the owner was great and a week of good food, good times and a visit after 55 yrs to home, was very emotional. Changes to my hometown were extreme but at Scituate Oceanside it was like long ago. Very nice accommodation! Will try to go back."

"We stayed in the Rendezvous house. The house was beautiful and location was amazing. Unobstructed ocean view directly across the road. Covered front porch and fire pit on back deck added to the location. Thank you to Fred for a wonderful experience."
