"Mel is great! Happy to find a convenient upscale hair salon right in my neighborhood. This place is always clean and due it's small size, it feels like you are getting very individualized attention without all the hussle and bustle of larger salons. I am pretty picky about my hair and Mel always gets the color right. I went back to a salon in JP last summer due to badly needing a haircut and not being able to book an appointment in time, and really regretted my decision. Back to studio M! :) Word to the wise: definitely book ahead for those coveted weekend time slots!"

"Went here twice. Each time Mel was unable to get my hair to the desired color /shade that I requested. The first time I still liked the color even though it wasn't as light as I wanted, so I decided to give her a second chance. The second time I came, she took another client who was very late during my time slot. She didn't ask me if this was ok until after she started trimming the woman's hair and this resulted in me having to wait longer, my appointment being shortened, and thus the time product was in my hair which directly resulted in the color not coming out as light as I requested. I was so upset I called the next day and she did agree to try to fix it, so I came back and she literally did not re-foil my hair by section properly—she just used one big foil sheet and brushed product on the ends of my hair. The results were awful! It made it look like I had horrendous roots grown out to my shoulders while the remainder of my hair down to the base of my back had been lightened blonde. I ended up going to another salon to remedy the issue. Would not recommend!!!!"

"Mel has been my hair stylist for years. She always gives me a great cut and color. Mel listens to what I want or looks at photos I bring in. She gets me. She keeps things fresh and modern. When I wanted to stop coloring my hair and let my grey grow in, she transitioned my hair and no one noticed (that is a good thing). I completely avoided the skunk streak. People always stop me on the street to compliment me ask who cuts my hair."

"I am a new client at Studio M and wasn’t sure what to expect but the reviews say it all! I chose this salon most because of the convenience but it was a great experience. I had Mel for my appointment and the salon is so cozy and intimate. Much more relaxing than being at a large, loud salon! My first appointment I left and wasn’t completely satisfied with how my hair came out but it was easy to talk to Mel and find a time to fix it and at no extra charge! I am extremely satisfied with this experience and will be back soon!"

"I recently got a haircut in here by Mel! I am a new mom, and this was one of my first opportunities to go and treat myself to a really nice haircut… A few months ago, I went to a different hair salon in Jamaica Plain, thinking that I wanted to get my hair cut short so that it was easier to manage. The stylist there talked me into keeping it long, and I have been regretting it. I told Mel about this experience, and she was so supportive. She reassured me that the short haircut I was looking for would look great on me, and would be so much more manageable than the long hair. She worked quickly and confidently, shaping my hair into the fantastic haircut that I have now! She was really open to feedback, and made a couple of adjustments after my hair was more dry. I am now three days post haircut, and so many people have let me know how great it looks! I highly recommend this new, fun little salon in Roslindale right across from Target!"
