"Living here feels like living in a college dorm. Building managers are friendly but incompetent. Whenever I had to speak with them, I always wondered if they might be high. Living here is not terrible but not great and can be quite frustrating."
"love it here at Velo! gym is extremely nice lots of good machines including treadmills ellipticals smith machines. the key system is really nice. i really like the property manager. maintenance people are all really nice and professional. i really like it here!"
"Lucy, Jack and Candace are by far the worst people running a building complex. First they accused me of trashing the trash room when I first moved in, completely false it was overflowing with Amazon boxes from their current Residence. NO parking the parking garage is horrible and no visitor parking. Please do not order any packages here your items will be stolen anyone can walk in the lobby and pick up a package completely unorganized. My unit was dirty when I moved in, no one suggested to have the cleaner come out. I had to put in a work order immediately after I moved in so many things were broken completely unacceptable. You also have to a pay water bill which is ridiculous. Management is very rude and unprofessional. Many strangers around the building In their cars smoking really disturbing and scary. I haven’t seen anyone clean or vacuum the floor I live on since I moved in. Trash room is gross. Do not move here save yourself the headache this isn’t luxury living at all it’s stressful. They will tell you the reviews are from the last management as they told me don’t believe them. This building needs new staff and Ms. Candace is very very feisty not someone I would want in charge of my building she’s not understanding at all very rude. Jack works closely with Candace he’s not understanding either. Lucy was nice into she accused me of trashing the trash room. The maintenance are the nicest guys In the whole building Jack should learn from them. Also the walls are so thin I can hear everything from my neighbors units it’s disgusting and ridiculous. I’m not sure who lives above me but sometimes I think the ceiling going to cave in how thin the walls are.. DO NOT MOVR HERE this is a fake luxury building they don’t have concierge at the front door it’s horrible.. They also messed up my rent I be going through hell living here don’t do it.. I wrote a review before and deleted because I try to give people a chance but today was enough with JACK…The rent expensive so I have high expectations and I’m extremely disappointed I’m my experience here"
"The place is decent but the property manager, Candance Smith, is incompetent. Harsh words I know, but she’s the most unapproachable person I’ve ever met. I normally don't like to write reviews but for this company Greystar I had to do it. Based on surveys, people normally have bad reviews about property management companies, but this one takes the cake. First, I don’t complain about maintenance issues like upkeep of the hallways or snow & trash removal which is a common thing with property companies. This case is not like that as I’m an easy tenant, I pay my rent on time and mind my business. However, in December, a simple matter turned into a complex one. It all started when I came to her that I've been double charged for rent due to an auto pay glitch. Mind you, I followed every instruction they provided prior and they told me that I should issue my checks by hand every month until they fix the autopay. No communication was ever provided that the autopay has been fixed, so I was charged twice as a result. Instead of them taking accountability they blamed me for it and said I signed the auto pay. To which I responded that the only reason this happened is you forced the tenants to start paying online and that no checks would be accepted at the office going forward. I though this was bizarre as who refuses checks or money orders. Fast forward, they want to charge me insufficient funds ($100) because I called my bank to cancel the duplicate charge which they were aware of by the way. In conclusion, If you want things done with this company, speak to the assistant manager, Jack, instead of the manager as you will not get anything resolved. PS. I’m still disputing the $100, though I can pay it, it’s the principle for me."
"My experience at Velo had some positives: other tenants were lovely, and the location near the train station and the arboretum was wonderful. However, I experienced multiple issues during my one-year lease: (1) I was deceptively guaranteed I would have access to a parking spot upon moving in, but was not granted one until more than six months after moving in; Velo illegally towed my car twice resulting in the financial burden of retrieving the car ($143 each time) as well as hundreds of dollars more in vehicular damages as the towing company ruined my tires. Management offered little more than an apology after initially denying their wrongful towing, and then reimbursed me for only one of the instances; (3) Ongoing maintenance issues that were never resolved despite assurance of the same (including but not limited to: panelling that should have covered the sink pipes falling repeatedly, partially broken sink faucets, a broken bathroom light and the shower rod beginning to fall — the latter two issues that maintenance stated outright they don’t have the tools to fix); (4) frequent fire alarms that lasted, at times, hours throughout a weeknight; (5) a persisting sewage smell in my apartment that ranged from subtle to pretty much unbearable, which we were informed by maintenance and a representative from the city is a result of the cheap plumbing equipment and suppliance used in the building, and thus is unchangeable. It was also excruciatingly painful to coordinate with maintenance. I reiterated multiple times that I could not have them in my apartment from 9-5 due to my job but they repeatedly attempted to come up anyways. It was like pulling teeth trying to schedule with them, as if they were not listening whatsoever. Management shifted three times during my tenancy and I got the impression they did not communicate internally at all. It was an awful management experience all three times, and on more than one occasion members of management and/or maintenance were condescending. Finally, the amenities were only OK. The gym almost always had broken equipment. The grounds behind the building were unkempt — patches of mold were growing in the grass. When I moved in, Velo was very pet-friendly. Now, they don’t allow dogs in the outdoor common areas, and include a lot of clauses in the lease with semi-hidden fees for pet owners. When I signed my initial lease for a one bedroom, it included two months concessions so rent was, on average, $1,912.50/month for 12 months. The newly proposed offer of $2,895 to resign my lease was nearly $1,000 more per month in cost, and thus prohibitively expensive. When bringing all of the above up with current management, they offered a 1.5 month free concession on a 13 month lease, bringing the average cost to over $2,560/month (not including the varying costs of utilities and $250+ for parking per month). All this for an OK apartment with OK amenities, poor management and maintenance, and 600 square feet of space. I found a much better offer within days of deciding to move out. I could not in good conscience recommend this complex to a friend. All of the neighbors I befriended during my tenancy felt similarly and did not re-sign leases. EDIT: to add one more note, they reimbursed me $230 of the $500 security deposit, even though during the final walk through I was told I would receive full deposit back as place was left in excellent condition with no holes in walls."
