"I was distraught before going on Somerville pads because I was scammed by someone when trying to secure an apartment. I was paranoid and wanted to be extra careful so I did a lot of research before going on their site. I explained my situation and how I was out the extra month's rent but I could do first, security, and broker's fee if they helped me find a place. I worked with Michael Montero, who was sympathetic to my situation and promised to call through his database and find the right place for me. I saw a few places I would be happy with and decided to apply for one of them. He spoke to the landlord on my behalf and after an interview and some negotiating he actually agreed to drop security altogether! Just first, last, and broker's fee fitting perfectly within my budget. I truly see the value in working with an agent now, and will happily call Michael again in the future."

"Out of my 15+ years of living in and around Boston, my best apartment-finding experience was with the agents on Somerville Pads. In the past 2 season I've worked with John Hogan from Boardwalk properties and Harry Hardman from Jacob Realty. Their system of open listings really fosters a teamwork mentality, despite the expectation that they're competing against each other. Typically, Boston agents lose interest in helping you very quickly, but not these guys. "Somerville Pads is great! I’ve moved a lot over the last few years and have gotten used to using other sites. When I decided to move to Somerville, I found this site and it’s so much better than the rest- even the big ones like Zillow or Trulia. It is dedicated solely to the Somerville area- even though you can see neighboring areas to compare- and is really easy to navigate. One of the things I found most helpful were the blogs on the site! Since I’m new to the area, I really got a feel for what the neighborhood would be like by reading the article on top 5 local bars and was able to understand what my expectations should be within my budget thanks to their info graphic on average rent prices in Somerville."
