"I preface this by saying that I'm very cautious with negative reviews to small businesses and careful of my impact. I was unsure if to post this review at all, but think of it a public service to others and something I wish I saw before I walked through their door. I needed a simple cut in August; a straight blunt cut to remove existing layers and removing some bulk. I thought pricing was more reasonable than other places, and I did not want to travel to NYC to my hairstylist for what I thought would be too simple a cut to mess up. Nassim was 10 minutes late to my consult, which was prescheduled. He was not with another client at the time. During consult, I explained what I wanted and said that I considered getting thinning sheers myself to remove the bulk with guidance of youtube videos, because Nassim expressed some hesitation about thinning out my hair, saying that it was not necessary for my type of hair. He explained the common mistake with thinning procedure that results in camel’s back/bump. He offered to give me his own sheers and send me home after my DIY comment. I ignored the sarcasm, and that was my first mistake. We wrapped up the consult when I told Nassim that I wanted thinning done because it is necessary for my hair and is something that I was getting done on regular basis. Allowing myself to spend so much time convincing a stylist was another mistake and this should have sent me toward the exit, but I fell into a hole all on my own. The bulk/volume removal was done with a technique I never saw before. It involved twisting a piece of hair and cutting at intervals. The technique, while unfamiliar to me, looked illogical and messy, but I decided to chill because Nassim had perfect 5 star reviews at the time of my visit. It took me a few days after the cut to realize that I had a camel’s bump in the back of my head. It was hard to see, but that part of head didn’t feel right to touch texture wise. It will take months to grow this nightmare cut out, and I’ve been in a pony tail since August until recently. My bangs looked barely touched and there was a real lack of attention to that part, in addition to the bigger mess I just described. Nassim either: (1) does not have the basic skills or (2) this cut was given to me on purpose. If latter, only he knows the reasons. I do question whether the 5-star reviews are fake reviews. I rely on reviews when I'm looking for services in new places, but this experience has changed my habits for good. Back to NYC I go. 12/17/23 - Nassim called me regarding this review and offered to fix the issue. After talking for a while, I decided to delete this review but google will not let me do it. I' adding this note to say that I appreciate Nassim's offer and the call. I will try and figure out how to remove this review."
