"Please, open more standard checkout lanes! There’s a single lane open, with a huge line, every time I go in. Most people don’t want to hassle with self checkout when we have a lot of items. Other than that WF is solid. Pricy to do all your shopping there, but they definitely have a lot of specific things where the quality exceeds standard grocery stores."
"Always like coming here for more specialty foods. Have a rough time getting blueberries and avocado aty local grocery store. Always good here."
"I give it 4 stars because of the food quality only. It is one of the better places to find healthy food in the area. I love the immense salad bar when it is well stocked though often it is poorly stocked. And many of the salad bar options are not the best quality so it is hit and miss. Sometimes it looks like things have been left out too long and not enough attention is made to keep the area clean after rude customers rampage through spilling stuff everywhere in the salad bar. But the rest of the store is spotless and the cashiers seem happy, which is becoming more and more unusual in these corporately run chains. I suspect the employees are better compensated here. I like the dining area up at the front of the store since I am often in a hurry at lunch time. It is a great place to get healthy fast food. But you will pay for it; the prices are not cheap. I find everything I buy here is generally more expensive than elsewhere. But having a good retail markup means you can afford more staff of higher quality so kudos for that. Cashing out is very fast and they even have self-checkout registers."
"Expensive store, especially since the one in Portsmouth has a Trader Joe's with half a mile and several other grocery stores within 3 miles. You're paying for the name here. I was hoping to check out their salad bar and hot food bar, a great selection, however so low down that kids were testing things without any parent supervision and honestly turned my stomach. In this day and age, and it being winter and so many viruses, they should attempt to cover some foods within a kids reach or put these salad bars higher."
"I’m happy we finally have a Whole Foods in Portsmouth. The store is large and clean. They offer the typical Whole Foods set up of local produce, cheese counter, meat counter, seafood counter, fresh baked goods, buffet style take out food, deli, and pizza. And they have plenty of indoor seating for eating. I was very pleased with the amount of locally farmed selections at the store. If you like cheese, this store has a ton of it and in all different styles. The butcher offers fresh grass fed beef, which is great. This location has a self bread slicer for fresh loaf bread. My last Whole Foods did not and I had to go to the bakery counter to slice. The store also sells flowers near the entrance. I took lots of pictures I’ll attach in case I missed anything (and since the store is new.) Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but you can find a deal here and there, especially for specialty items for restricted diet options like vegan and gluten-free that aren’t typically sold at other grocery chains. They have prime member deals and sales that also bring the cost of some items down, so look out for those. The staff were very friendly and the shelves were well stocked. The store was quite busy both times I shopped. It could be because it just opened, but be warned. This location offers a self checkout option. Overall, a great new Whole Foods to shop at - 4.5 stars"
