"Stayed on New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day, a staff member opened our door and would have walked right in if we didn’t yell. This was at 7 in the morning. He did not announce himself nor knock loud enough for anyone to hear or know what was going on. He claims he “heard a noise”, and was “just checking”. We had the news on the tv and someone was in the bathroom brushing their teeth. Staff was less than helpful with this situation, showed no empathy for the discomfort we felt, and after multiple calls we were offered a partial refund despite the fact they had no reason to enter or attempt to enter our room at 7am. Not acceptable. I am disgusted with the customer service of this establishment and when I was finally able to speak with a manager she acted like it was a total inconvenience to help me. Well it was inconvenient and unacceptable to have someone attempt to come into our room and we immediately checked out. As someone who has stayed here many times, I will never be back. I would give less than one star if I could for this experience."
"The staff is incredible. Close proximity to BID Plymouth and all of the waterfront attractions. The newly updated rooms are great. Only cons: needs more trash bins, a couple small handrails in the shower tub would be super helpful and no in room microwave. I cannot praise the staff more! Any dumb questions I had, they helped and were so friendly- even night audit was cheerful. Great dining all around. Found it considerably more comfortable than hotel 1620."
"My daughter and I stayed at the John Carver Inn in Plymouth For 2 days, The hallways smelt like vomit, the room was dirty. The coffee pot still had coffee grinds in it from the last customers that were in the room. We went down to use the pool. We were in there five minutes and got kicked out because A twelve-year-old child pooped In the pool. It was the worst place I have ever stayed at in my life, Then we got off the elevator when the door opened. It smelt like something was on fire. Don't know if it was the elevator itself or something in someone's room. But the smell was horrible. We could not wait to pack up and go home. Totally disgusted with the John Carver Inn. Those rooms were worth only maybe $60"
"The lobby is lovely. The pool is themed and kids love it. The hot tub... is not hot. Probably temperature set around 98/99. The pool rules, tho I understand, still made me giggle. A lil extreme. Rooms are nice. As clean as an aged building can be. Beds are noisy and highly uncomfortable. But it was a place to stay. The staff was all very friendly."
"My 16 year old son and I stayed here three days while visiting the Boston area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at John Carver Inn & Spa. This is not the Ritz Carlton and it should not be expected to be. It is a little aged but the rooms were clean and comfortable, the pool was warm and fun with the water slide, sauna, and hot tub, and the staff friendly, informative and efficient. The restaurant there has good food and drinks and the Saturday night Irish music session and sing along was a blast. The Inn is not only located a block away from main st eateries and shops, but also a short walk to the harbor, Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock and historical sites and homes. We had an excellent time staying at the Inn and visiting Plymouth and would not only visit again, it recommend it to others."
