Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks

"I have been here twice and this hotel has the most sprawling views ever! Rooms are wonderful with pillows, sheets, desk, and even your own private porch facing out to the water! The swimming pool is very spacious with a wheelchair ramp. They offer a billiard room, pool, breathtaking views, and good parking! There is a top deck with impeccable views of the sea! You are also allowed to walk across the street to enjoy a bench with oceanic views. You can also walk down the street to the other hotel for breakfast, they're very welcoming and kind. You have to stay here when in Gloucester!"

"This was my first stay at Ocean House Hotel. The room was beautiful and the view was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Alexis, Jeff, and the very nice blonde lady (so very sorry that I don't know your name) were extremely accommodating. I love this place and can not wait to come back again. Thank you for the early check-in, amazing continental breakfast, cookies, and cocoa."

"We stayed 4 nights. The room was in the older building so it was dated, with a small bathroom. The toilet didn't work correctly until maintenance came out to snake it. After that, it was fine. The view was beautiful, but the room did not have much of one, as the largest window faced the Elks club next door. The main window was clean, but the others were dirty. If you wanted to see the water, you'd be better off sitting on the benches on the other side of the road. The room was quiet and we didn't hear any noise from the lobby. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows should be replaced, as your head sunk right down to the bed, even with 2 pillows. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. There wasn't much nearby in the way of restaurants and such, but the drive into Gloucester was only 5 to 10 minutes."

"Staff is incredibly rude and arrogant. Booked rooms in a block months ago for a large family trip. When we arrived we were told that our rooms were given away and we had to spread out across the hotel. When we asked the desk person about it he told us not to make a big deal of it that it was fine... Upon entering the rooms, heat was not working in 1 and phone cord ripped out of wall. Other room had black mold on wallpaper. 3rd room TV does not work. Location is beautiful and views are great but that's the only good thing."

"We stayed in the Premium Ocean Front King room on the ground level. Stunning views, comfortable room, bed, and sofa. The bathroom was a little small but fine for one person. Housekeeping was very nice and asked if we required anything. The front desk is very helpful and kind. We loved playing in the billards room every night and it became our routine. Their breakfast is good but did not offer the seaside breakfast as advertised on the website. Atlantis, the hotel next door does offer a sit down breakfast which is open to the public and it was delicious. They do have coffee, tea, lemon water and a variety of juices available throughout the day which was very nice. The pool and hot tub were great, although the hot tub jets either weren't working or unavailable. It was still very relaxing and enjoyable. Beautiful patio area with a fire pit and chess set. The drive from the hotel to scenic Gloucester is less than 10 minutes. Overall we loved our stay and will definitely be returning in the future."
